Passports are only a starting point, quite a lot of countries want [to sell you] a visa stamp. Any enhanced identity checks can be part of that process.

I was reading something on one of the sites I frequent, might be here about someone ordering from Spain and needing to supply their National ID number.
Seems it is slowly being phased in across Europe that when you make online purchases you may have to supply a national ID card number.

If you really think this won't become another victim to function creep you are fools.

Not sure how Digital ID can reduce the illegal migration? IMO Spain approach is way better in one week if you are immigrant they give you the right to work and send you on your merry way then are sorting our who is legal. Make way much sense and will reduce the whole hotels shenanigans and overall expenses to the tax payer.

Have no idea how online safety act is supposed to work, but I am all for having compulsory identification including age for all online services. You can still be anonymous. This will stop all russian and chinese bots.
