Started watching Enterprise from the beginning again ... things which are annoying me so far ...

They never take more than a few mouthfuls of food before they just leave it ... not only do they not eat it all, but they just leave it sitting on the table for some other fecker to clear up after them!

Lights ... even on their own feck'n ship they go into a cargo bay or some other room and they need torches ... seriously, you've built a fricken starship, but you couldn't put lights in all the rooms!!!

Yoshi or whatever the feck her name is, hears two words of a language spoken by a new species they've just met and all of a sudden knows their entire language!

Looking at buying somewhere to live in retirement in a couple of years it’s apparent that the housing market is fecked, and so am I. “Park homes” going for £150k. If you go for park homes/mobile/static caravans or whatever you want to call them, be bloody careful. I know a couple of people who have got caught out in different ways and it's cost them. There again wifies parents lived in one and they loved it. Just make sure you do ypour homework if you go down that route.

Or buy a canal boat. 100 grand will get you floating palace (Mine cost 39 grand and I'd happily live on it if wifie snuffed it) and if you are in a marina, plug in electrics. Facilities on site. etc.

I don't think they could ever top TNG, although they tried. I did like Deepspace and Voyager.

I still think Enterprise is the most realistic one. They wear jumpsuits with actual pockets and the engine room actually looks like a mechanical part of the ship and not just another room with touch screens in it.

Still better than anyone of the shite modern Trek that we've got recently.

Where aer you looking? I got the impression prices had fallen of late.
Although I'd never look at anyting built in the last 30-40 years. Jerry-built claustrophobic houses in claustrophobic streets..

Yes, I’ve heard stories of awful site owners, and a suggestion that you can only be there for 10 months of the year legally. I’ve seen some pretty fancy static caravans park homes but I expect they’d be cold in Winter.

I quite fancy this idea and have watched a few Youtube videos from narrow-boaters but worry about the lack of space, the cold, hidden costs and I couldn’t have a motorcycle.

Latest focus prompted by relatives with connections to the area is Thirsk in North Yorkshire, but I could go anywhere. Really I was bemoaning the elevated prices of the lowest tiers of the property scene that push everything else upwards.

I'd hang fire. The current government are really trying their hardest to fuck over buy to let landlords with multiple properties.

I can't say I think that's necessarily a bad thing for people who want to actually own a house but I also think there's a good chance they'll balls up the implementation.

it's a weird subset though - It's those with buy to let properties, but who buy less than ten at a time. This means that large companies whose only business is buying homes to let are absolutely fine. They pay no stamp duty if they buy ten properties at a time. They can also claim their income as a limited company and not as a sole trader. For me, who happened to have kept the last house I bought when I moved into this one it's caused me some difficulty. The tax is going up a bit, nothing that I can't handle, but it's not profitable for me. Luckily I'm not doing it to be profitable, I'm doing it because I had to pay the extra stamp duty on this house, so I may as well have kept it anyway. I hope to have paid off both mortages by the time I retire, which would mean essentially a passive income from the rental of my second property.

The new rules for landlords don't really affect me that much as I'm not a slumlord. There is no mould in my house, I don't need to evict my tenants for no reason and I don't randomly increase the rent multiple times a year. I'm not super happy about the whole pets thing, but if my tenants wanted pets I'm sure they'd make sure they didn't cause any damage.

This government have essentially taken the edge off of buy to let, which is probably a good thing. Those that absolutely still want to do it will keep doing it. Those who did it because they had a few £100k lying about will stop, and I suspect it'll stop a lot of holiday home purchases too.
