Got a 2010 XJ6 last year, it's nice but this is the first bike i've had with the modern design feature of having a short tail that throws shit all over the back of the bike. It's already got a rear hugger that goes around the top of the chain guard and front facing part of the rear wheel, but that does nothing for the stuff that ends up on the pillion seat and my rucksack. The original tail has been replaced with a shorter tail tidy. I was hoping to upgrade my rucksack and get a tail pack, not really looking for a top box.

What works best to stop this? I've seen the type that fit to the swing arm and then form a shield over the back of the tyre. They look a bit sketchy to me but i've no experience. Or alternatively just a longer guard fitted behind the number plate?

Cheers

Yeah, bring back the ‘sandwich box’ and the ‘bee-sting’ tail pieces.

Admittedly the Kawasaki came with an aftermarket tail tidy that does spray a bit of dirt onto the rack but it’s not awful.

The modern sticky-out rear wheel looks all right but isn’t so practical. I’d consider fitting a reflector under the number plate since a reflector is an MOT requirement anyway.
