Me? No. I suspect we've both been about for long enough to know if it's throwing the handling off and ride accordingly.

The way I see it is you would probably land up stuck in a loop of having a brand/style of tyre not of your chosing. Because next your rear will wear out when you still have life on the front one and are back to square one again. Of course, if the metzelers are what you want then stick with them.

I personally can't see past the michelin road series tyres these days and would have them on all my road bikes if they made them in an appropriate size. So I'd be tempted to change both but I'm also cheap enough to use up a rear which has a decent bit of tread left on it.

When I was doing a fair bit of motorway commuting, I bought a spare rear wheel for my VFR. I had a cheap conti touring tyre on one and a road 4 on the other. I'd swap between them depending what sort of riding I was doing. One major benefit of a single sided swingarm, just 4 nuts to mess with.

I liiiike. This was going to be the first big capacity bike I bought, but I ended up buying a Daytona 955i instead. They go consistently under the radar. They seem to have sold a few, but they don't seem to keep their value massively either. Yours is particularly pretty looking.


Thanks, I've been pussy-footing about for a while. There's work to do but it's generally pretty clean for its age (2003).

Tidy under-rated bike the Falco. Make sure it has a good battery and make sure the throttle is slightly cracked when you first crank it, to give the starter half a chance.

Thumbs Up Seller told me sprag had been recently replaced. Also plan to upgrade the starter cable and relay at some point.

Depends on your riding style. For commuting a Pilot Road 5 onwards would be fine. I have lost a *little bit* of trust in them just recently for really hard riding, I lost the back end on my GSX-S1000F and it did not re-grip for what felt like an age, even when I backed off, so it was quite scary.

Personally I love Pirellis, but the Contis have got good lately and aren't stupid money. Apparently Conti poached a load of engineers and chemists from Pirelli/Metzeler which is why their tyres have suddenly got gud.

Personally a Racetec is a bit much for the road unless you're only going to ride on dry sunny days over 15 degrees C.

Could be, but I'll give it a try . Meanwhile I snagged a Metz Sportec M3 for the front - apparently mid way between Racetec and Roadtec - not much money at Demon Tweeks.
