I bought a new PC monitor, my very first OLED panel, ever.
It's a g-sync/freesync compatible 4K@240Hz panel (MSI MPG 322URX QD-OLED). I wanted one ever since OLED panels first appeared, but back then the smallest ones were essentially 42" TVs. Then smaller monitors came, but the prices were still sky high, plus they had quite a bit of issues, such as displaying text with colour fringing and aberrations. Also, my biggest fear was image retention (burn in), especially considering how expensive those panels still were.
Now, the OLED technology improoved to a point, there are no image quality issues, many manufacturers now offer 32" 4K panels and the prices got to a point I said why not*. Also, not sure about other manufacturers, but the panel I got has got many image rentention prevention features (pixel shift, taskbar/logo/boundary detection...) that I will use. I hope I'm not getting the BCF logo burned into my new panel any time soon.
* NOTE: A friend of mine died last week and when someone close to me dies I always reconsidered everything I have always wanted to do/own/have... when my mother died six years ago, I bought a road bike and I have been cycling ever since.
Anyway, so far, both HDR and SDR content, incl. gaming, is just beyond anything my previous VA panel could do. I mean, the contrast of any OLED panel is essentially infinite. ALSO, I completely forgot how smooth high refresh rate monitors are. Years ago I tried briefly a 144Hz IPS monitor, but I gave up on it the moment I first saw 4K, I even used to play at 30Hz vsync on my GTX 1070 Ti just to have that 4K clarity. Now I'm back at 100Hz+ and it's amazing, even the frame gen on my RTX 4070 Ti Super starts to make sense now.
TL;DR: I bought a new monitor and so far I'm happy with it. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Female DIN socket. Stupid stuff like this is why I miss Maplins. I could have just gone and got it - and at a competitive price too. Now I have to wait days. RS electronics seem not to have anything I want in stock over the counter so they're no use either (also expensive).

I need to make an adapter cable vga>din for my Amstrad CTM664 monitor as I need to utilise the 15khz the computer in question uses natively (Archimedes A3010) and none of my other monitors (mostly crt) do 15khz. They're not multisync compatible, or are in monochrome anyway which defeats the point in looking for chip related screen garblage (colours and patterns can give away points of defect). ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11
