TL;DR - OP's insurance was never officially started by the insurance company. They never took the money. They've informed him and he wants to get something free out of their mess up, despite him essentially still receiving the service, due to them saying they can backdate the insurance if he pays the agreed premium. They've offered a £20 discount, but apparently he wants insurance for free or something?
