Rear tyre on my Drz400s needs replacing. I'm very happy with the current Heidenau K60 and its the same tyre on the front. The place that fit them originally asked my half jokingly not to come back,it was quite a job apparently. Read on-line they has stiff sidewalls....is this a DIY prospect with basic tools anyone?

As a general rule, if it was a fuck-on to fit, it'll be doubly so to take off.

I made the mistake of offering to change a scooter tyre once. Won't be doing that again I can assure you.

Even the bigger tyres can be a lottery. I can change Michelins no problem with my tyre levers but Dunlops are hard work and Pirellis a total cowson.

If the tyre shop said they were hard work on the machine then attemptng it with levers is lunacy tbh.

I haven't failed to remove or install a tyre yet. Give it a go? Go for a ride before attempting it? Use a blow lamp to warm up the sidewall slightly?

Indeed, I've changed a few and some have been a complete bitch. and no matter how many milk bottles I cut up for rim protectors I end up making some marks. Spend £20 and save your sanity and the skin off your knuckles...

...unless its a complete ratter, you're built like Charles Atlas*, and you have some real good levers.
