I am in a battle of bureaucratic words with some jumped up little power-hungry twonk at the central department of policies.
If she would just do as was fucking well asked (add myself and three colleagues to their mailing list) instead of writing bossy emails full of atrocious mid-european continental syntax, things would be hunky dory and we could all get on with our fucking work.
I may not win this round but I have to be seen to have made the various requests. Its very annoying that I can't just write "Pull your finger out of your lazy arse and put us on the list, luv"- without risking an international scandal of abusive-colleague syndrome.
She has not grasped that we are doing this for the greater good.
And now having fired off a series of emails in a fit of efficiency, I am on Friday afternoon sabbatical, leisurely running a series of minutes summaries through Copilot to give me a paragraph on each subject.
Even when i am not working, I am working.
Meanwhile, a self-important cohort of bombastic lunatics are killing innocent people in the name of international relations, and other people are having to have their life-saving operations cancelled.
Really I don't know why I bother.

Ahh, the good old international diplomacy.
So having managed to find a messy workaround to get export documents printed out and spending an hour filling in, rubber stamping and initialling in the correct colour pen. The final part of this particular job is to go and look at boxes of cheese in a lorry. Confirm the batch numbers and container numbers are as expected and apply a seal to the container.
I arrive to find a half loaded lorry with an angry looking Latvian lorry driver and an exasperated storeman having an animated argument via google translate as to whether or not the totally standard euro pallets everything in the whole world is transported on are "too big" for his container lorry. With extra pointing and arm waving.
Given more than half of them are already inside the fecking lorry at this point would suggest to me that they are, in fact, not "too big". But what do I know?
Anyway. By this point the storeman was busy offloading them again with a degree of flounce and overall attitude I didn't think it was possible to put into operating a pallet truck. I left and told them to call me back if they decide they aren't too big after all. Otherwise, a whole new document will be required if they find a less sizeist driver to take them.
This whole process took a total of three and a half hours of my day and an 18 mile round trip. Happily, I get paid on a salary and since the certificate was issues as requested, it will also be billed. I suspect the only person missing out here is the lorry driver... And the Dutchmen who will be wondering why their cheese is late. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. This stupid cream I'm putting on my sunburn cancer has made my face itchy this week
As I have been putting it on in 5-day stints for a couple of weeks now, but with little apparent effect, I am hoping that means the damn stuff is starting to work.
Meanwhile I am trying to resist scratching it too frequently because i have acrylic nails on and I don't want to shred my skin off with them ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Also, I am starting to appreciate how mobility physio is of use at a later stage in life.
I'm not exactly a fitness freak but I have slightly upped my game when it comes to doing a bit to improve what had started to be noticeable mobility problems.
I think its helping actually in more ways than I expected
I didn't much like being lectured to by the physio at my GP surgery, I hate when the fitness freaks are right ... but it has made some difference to age-related creaks, particularly as I spend a ridiculous amount of time in front of a screen/at my desk.
Even bought myself some of those 1kg wristband things to see if I can improve the bingo wing department.
I'm hardly gonna be Sarah Connor in me old age but it can't be a bad thing to be slightly more mobile and ... erm, toned (now there's a word I would never expect to apply to myself ) ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Agreed
A good physio will help a lot. |
+1
I tried all the exercises from the youtube experts - not sure any did much good. It got better though - took about 1 year for me. Ended up sleeping with the offending arm dangling down side of bed. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750, SL1000

My gears were v.ground last weekend (I forgot)
I was looking forward to taking my Sportster out for a ride in Wiltshire where it has been overwintering at my ex's house and apparently his mechanic had recently sorted out the horrid gearbox problem (cable adjustment *ahem* ) .
So we had opened the shed doors to get the bikes out, but himself decided to go for a clear-out before we left but post-flush the drain overflowed out the front of the house, unpleasant effluent etc etc.
Thus we had to wait in for the Dynorod guy and then the water board which of course took all fucking day on a Sunday
So I had to put up with a whole weekend of the pair of them - for no perceivable benefit.
To be fair, we did go out for a great meal at a nice pub near Longleat. But still ... ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Well! ... My gears are well and truly ground today!
Not only have I just dropped my newish (less than 2 months old) in the toilet out of the back pocket of my jeans ... (I never learn!)
BUT
I was right on the point of "letting go" - so that in my desperation to try and rescue the phone, I managed to piss not only all over myself but on my jeans, knickers and the bathroom floor
There was a pair of socks sitting on the basin shelf so I quickly (whilst standing there in a puddle of piss with no pants on and wet legs ... ) wrapped the phone inside the socks in the vain hope of drying it quickly enough to save it.
When I sat on the toilet seat in frustration from having wet feet, the seat was also wet due to my splashing about rescuing the phone.
And of course, the phone appears not to have withstood its intrepid journey into the dunny.
So I'm off to Amazon to buy another one.
Good thing I don't pay stupid money for an up to date phone.
Usually about £120 max. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |
