went out for a ride yesterday evening about 7:30 and it was bliss.
bike was reading 28 degrees but being in moving air was really cooling.
stayed out for a couple of hours and felt a lot better when i got home.

what say I? I say most people are bored of Boomers saying 'it was hotter back in my day' and the like when empirical evidence shows it wasnt, 1976 had a highest recorded temperature of 35.9c. This has been beaten in 1990, 2003, 2006, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 along with a reasonably high expectation for this year to beat it too.

Dug an old kevlar jacket out the shed, cut the cuffs off cut the lining out, zip it 1/4 way and use buttons, as long as im travelling on the bike its quite pleasant as the air moves through, bought a white up and over helmet too.

The iconic summer is remembered for its prolonged heat and lack of rainfall across much of the UK. From 23 June, a sustained hot spell saw temperatures regularly exceed 30°C widely across England, peaking at 35.9°C in Cheltenham on 3 July. Many areas also experienced weeks of dry conditions, with parts of southern England seeing little or no rain, contributing to severe drought conditions.

The graph below shows the two main heatwaves of the summer of 1976 in what was an otherwise often rather cool year.
