Got another scooty project and was stunned by this classic example of
'owner improvements'

This is the bar that spans the lower frame and supports the bike on the mainstand.so kinda important right?
It's obviously mig weld but not as we know it
It took a while to grind the fecker back to clean bright metal to
put it right.

This reminds me, take a look at the welding around the radiator cap on this piece of premium British motorcycle.

Also, I bought a new bicycle a few years ago (a Raleigh Mustang Elite gravel bike, I’ve hardly used it) and was disappointed with the look of the aluminium frame welds though they were neat for what they were. Then I compared with the Carlton Pro-Am 12-speed beauty I bought in 1982 and still own, and I remembered that bike’s steel frame had elegant lugs at each junction. I prefer that.
