Background.
Whilst fitting new master cylinder repair kits I somehow lost the top and seal from
the front brake MC and could not (still cant) find the feckin thing anywhere.
In desperation and in a hurry to get it MOT'd I bought another (cheap) MC from Ebay.
I was about to fit it when I realised the top and seal fitted perfectly on the original
so as I'd just put new piston/seals in I just used that.

Examining the Ebay one out of curiosity I noticed summat
can you see what it is yet?

I removed the brake lever, bolt and nut plus the boot so they're not in the pic, neither is the cap,seal and screws, but everything you see is as it arrived albeit assembled.

Incidentally, the shoulder bolt on my original MCs screws into the body and the nut acts as locking nut.
On this one there is no thread for the bolt, just a hole and the nut alone secures it.

Cheap, but this is not what concerned me the most.

I see what you mean, the shape looks like part has been broken out but

Yes!
Taking off the boot, I first noticed it didn't have a washer under the circlip then closer inspection showed there wasn't a groove for the circlip to sit in.
Effectively, the only thing keeping the piston from popping out was the brake lever.
Glad the cover fitted my original and I didnt use it.

I know it was only £17.99 and it got me out of a fix, but still.
