Anyone had it? I'm not good at the dentist and might opt for extraction if its less painful.

My missus had one a couple of weeks ago and she lived. Laughing

Any discomfort she had was for a far shorter time period than the grief I had when they decided they really needed to pull an impacted wisdom tooth before they'd put a crown on the molar next to it!

Depending on where it is, if you have it pulled you might still need something put in it's place to stop the other teeth near it moving - can't say I ever fancied the idea of having my jaw drilled to land a replacement!!!

I'd probably settle for whatever the dentist recommends as the internet experts will have you sporting a full set of dentures before you know it. Laughing

Worst pain i ever had was dry socket following a wisdom tooth extraction. I have had root canal, which whilst unpleasant was no where near as awful.

Either way, it's still a dead tooth. Depends on if you want it in the bin or in your mouth. How annoying would it be to you if it was gone? Because having it out is almost certainly a lot cheaper.

Never had either done but in theory neither should be painful if they've done the anaesthetic properly.

Had one on a molar this year, no pain other than a prick from the pain killer, Easier to eat on a tooth than a gum.

Update:

dropped in this AM to book an appt and the dentist said she'd take a look there and then since she'd had a no-show. X-rayed decided there was a crack that could be filled some more and took that action there an then.

Tooth is now more filling than tooth I reckon but it was her advice.
I suggested if I get any further grief I might opt for a pull and she basically said 'OK your choice'.. Neutral

I agree with Wali.
I've had quite a few over the years.
They didn't really hurt once the jab was in.
Not a fan of the smell of melting solder ... but its only for a few seconds.

This +1.

I've had one molar done and it was worth it. The dentist recommended a crown, since most of my tooth was mostly filling at that point. The root canal job was painless and I left with a functional tooth right after the procedure, some time after that I went for a second cleaning and then I got that crown on it.
