The is a consultation taking place concerning vehicle emissions that effects all of us.

The aim is to ensure that road vehicles continue to meet the same legal emissions requirements that applied when they were built and first registered for use on the roads.
This sounds reasonable enough but it will shorten the life of vehicles to the length of manufacturer support. When they stop making parts for you motorcycle, as little as 7 years after manufacture or 15 for a car you will be looking at scrapping it. No modifications either.

Take a look and hopefully fill in the survey objecting to the changes.

The survey.

The Government want to make this about stopping modifications but it is really about getting perfectly good vehicles off the road which will increase pollution and debt.

Done. Chunts the lof of them.

Given the nonsense with DPF currently and / or Adblue, the chances of them getting this right is absolutely zero.

Done, for what use it is. Our best chance to stop it is that it wont go through before a general election and then unless Labour get back in, it will quietly disappear.

Just another way to force us all into EV's and all the big brother shit that entails.

This is kind of interesting.. The foreward states the following..

'There is no requirement to maintain the functioning of the ECS of Euro 5 or 6 light-duty vehicles or Euro VI heavy-duty vehicles. '

Meaning that prior (Euro4 ) standards etc.. are enforceable by law already for vehicle lifetime. Did anyone know this? How is it actually enforced?

All these regs including exhaust noise level need to be enforced to be effective and theres no money for that (see also illegal e-bike/scooter/ bandana boys on pit-bikes).

In short regulation without enforcement is pointless.

Civil service carries on regardless of who is in power and no one has the long term aims to take them on.
