I found out that i screwed up replacing the inner tube valve core ?‍♂️ dropped bike at garage on way to work for new tube to be fitted. He just charged me for the tube to keep for next time, as he only ordered it in specially for me (fat vanvan rear).

Now I have the DB killers in my American tractor i can hear the stereo reasonably well. I am running an old MP3 payers because the aux input is a wired jack plug. No bluetooth on the bike so my phone is useless.. Which brings me to the next mod. I really need a new stereo unit as the one fitted doesn't pick up more than a couple of radio stations and to be honest the reception on FM is pretty crap.

So I want stereo, bluetooth, dab, with a decent power output. I'll probably need new cockpit speakers but the ones in the saddlebags should be OK. I'm hoping the radio unit on American vehicles is standard size with UK stuff and it will be a straight swap, but I won't hold my breath. I can see no way of doing it but taking the old one out first (somehow) then getting the dimensions.

Presuming I can fit standard units without too much bother, who is switched on with in car stereos? Any suggestions on what wold be a good choice?

As a self confessed car audio nut - budget first.

Do you want decent sound or do you want cheap price. And seeing as it's on a bike, removable faceplate i'm assuming is a requirement, does it need to be waterproof? If so then maybe a marine unit would be better?

Something like that i'd guess would suit. Depends whether you're playing music off an iPod or a USB stick or spotify.

I'd do a bit of reading about the faceplate mount / din size as well as depth of recess. if it's a standard size din but short depth, Alpine, Kenwood and i think Pioneer all do shallow mount units.

Postage and duty are a sting once. Ease of fitment is a real thing and long term performance will be what you remember.

That pioneer unit is a good one. If the radio signal stinks you can always fit a better aerial or dab aerial.

The thing id want is wiring plug and play. Have you no mates in the US forces?

But, I do have a brother in law in the US ( I forget about because I never really knew him). I could get him to order it for me.

Indirectly bike stuff: fixing workshop equipment. The Old Fella was having trouble with his air compressor. Some sort of Clarke 200 litre industrial thing, most of the paint's flaked off though. I had trouble identifying it because whoever had it previous reversed the fittings around.

What was happening was it would get up to pressure, shut off the motor and bleed the air out of the compressor and associated pipework. Unfortunately it kept on going till around 90psi and then the motor would start up again. Now bear in mind I've never worked on any compressors so forgive me if this all seems rather obvious but it turned out to be the one-way valve. It stuck open so was feeding pressure back into the pipework.

"But I changed it not long ago!" Mmm... somewhere between 6 months and 10 years I bet Anyhoo, took the valve assembly apart and the little bit behind the spring (I think it's referred to as a "pastel") had a chunk out of it. £5.99 for a replacement (4 in the packet actually) and it's working again
