i'm sure most people have probably thought about it at one point but is it a stupid idea or not? purely for safety and increasing your chances of being seen at night - 'not' for looks!!
cost about 25 quid i reckon to do it - 10/12 leds at about a pound each, some wire, resistors a switch, a transformer, some of that stuff to waterproof it?

iirc it is legal to have white underbody lighting just not coloured.

personally I think it's gonna make you stand out and be seen by other cars loads more especially if theirs lots of chrome on your bike!!

do it in clusters of strips:

"White LED lighting has been used for years by the RV and boating crowd, running off direct current (DC) battery systems. It then got popular in off-the-grid houses"

so their obviously plenty powerful

Think it'd even make a difference to being seen at night?

I rekon it would be good idea, as long as it does not get "chavved" up

Hmm, could be a good idea. I guess. Although I'm not convinced.

lol i'm not convinced yet either, theirs a few flaws in it that i can see already. I'd imagine it would be done already by someone if it was worth the effort.

you can have any colour you like, as long as you can only see the light cast from the light and not the actual light itself. if the lights are visible you can only have red visible from the rear and white visible from the front, anything else is illegal

Personally, I think it looks shit.

I can think of a few things I think would look good in that vein. None of them involve bolt-on shiny lights.

wearing skin tight 1 piece leathers and helmet ain't the sexiest thing in the world but it protects you - the theory of it isn't about looks, I could live with it looking silly if it works. Still doubtful wether or not it would make any difference though : 0[

I think I'd need to see it done to know wether or not it'll make any difference to being seen.

If you're doing it to be seen; get a yellow jacket, vest or stripe.

If you want to be a bit more stylish you could get some self adhesive reflective material and cut it up to make an appropriate shape/logo/word etc.

Reflective stuff would be far easier and more effective imo. Ride around with silly lights all over the place and you're more likely to get pulled. Ride around looking like a reflective banana and the police are more likely to leave you alone. That's 'received wisdom' anyway.

The police pull bikers often enough as it is, you'd just be holding a sign up saying 'STOP ME!!'. Any lights other than standard are always considered troublesome to the feds.
