Well 120 doesn't seem to bad to me, granted claimed top speed is around 130-135MPH but all bikes are different and some riders are heavier and the conditions don't permit thus the bike doesn't go as fast as it should.

Things like strong winds can cause you to be slowed down alot, also that Art can on your bike maybe slowing you down if the bikes not set up properly for it.

As for the tyre its probably a dodgy valve or something, I'd go to your local tyre place ASAP and get them to check it out.

Forgot to add also how would you know if your running low on petrol? as my L2 model doesnt have a warning light?? how much would getting the carbs cleaned set me back? is there anything else that may hinder performance? like crappy oil ect.

thanks.

It begins to splutter and wanting to cut out, thats when you flick the fuel tap on to reserve, and the likelyhood that its sucked some crap into the carbs is very unlikely unless you were running very low on reserve and you'd know about it if it did happen.

Not too sure on the ZXR, I know most bikes have a fuel tap if they don't have a fuel light.

Have a close look on the fuel tap on the left hand side of the bike, it should have an on, off and res position. Or maybe the ZXR has a switch for reserve somewhere on the bike? Have a read of your owners manual.

I had an indicated 143~, I can and do 130 daily now it's been dowgeared.

The fuel tap has 3settings on all I've seen Confused I'd check what directions are which but I don't have it back yet. I *THINK* aiming back is on, down is off and forward is reserve.

When I put mine on reserve it sucked loads of shit in and ran like crap. I mean REALLY crap like 60 mph tops. Had to get carbs cleaned by garage which cost £100. I could get it alot cheaper now tho. Thumbs Up

I've had 140mph indicated, so his 143mph claim seems reasonable to me.

The 1997 + zxr4's are meant to be slightly faster due to some engine alterations... also the 97 + zxr's are more tuneable due to stronger cam shafts.

Fit a metal valve cap with an 'o'ring to stop the tyre deflating.

you fill the tank up with the fuel tap set to on

when you are attempting an overtake on a sports rep with no fuel gauge

and the bike dies on you

you have to try and reach down and turn the tap to reserve

and then find the nearest petrol station mate

Bollocks. With the amount of anodised and shiny stuff you've posted on here you should be good for the landspeed record! Razz
