Hey up
I first properly rode a bike 3 months ago and for the last 3 days i have not been able to ride due to my bike having no back brake, everyday when i cycle to work i pass my bike undercover and my heart feels heavy! it is then i realise i am now hooked on bikes, even if i am not wanting to go for ride it is knowing that i have a working bike that i can just escape on!
Just wondered how long it took people to get well and truely hooked after they started riding

You are not as hooked as me then. After my first few days of riding I wouldn't have (and haven't on a couple of occasions) seen the lack of a back brake as an impediment to me riding my bike (and still wouldn't). ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Took me two minutes!
I was in the Cook Islands, on a scooter I'd just rented (and had to drive it away without knowing how to drive one), in fantastic sunny weather on a lovely South Pacific Island with no helmet or much traffic, just gliding along effortlessly after three months spent cycling with /much/ effort!
It was great. Shame I haven't managed to recreate the good weather and no traffic since being back in England, but there's just too many cars for me to sabotage them all
PS And when I rented a moped a week later which fell over while parked and smashed the rear brake handle off, I carried on. Apart from an unpleasant gravel-induced front-wheel skid while braking, it was fine. Does that make me hooked, or stupid?? |

The first two minutes of the road phase of the CBT. I had this adrenaline rush, seriously and I was only going 30. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Totally, utterly hooked about two minutes into my first pillion ride. From then on getting my own bike became an obsession (much to the disappointment of my mother). ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

Probably the first speedway meeting i went to see when i was about 6?
Although riding wise it has to be the first lap i did around Sittingbourne Speedway Training track when i was 8

I liked it, but didn't really know how to get the most out of my ped, from day 1.
It wasn't until the bike blew up, and I googled for possible reasons why this would happen, that I found this forum, and reading your posts about how much fun you can have on any bike really did inspire me. I found myself longing for a bike
So, cheers people of BCF... you've got me hooked on a fun (and very expensive) new hobby

yeh the back brake is only meant to be used to level out (balance) the front when your braking (and obviously as a backup if the front fails). Unless you mean the brake lgiht not the actual brake? ____________________ -=[Sam/b]=- cx500's the only way to travel, we do it in style just like jimmy saville
