A workmate followed me out of work the other day and said that as I slowed for a particular roundabout I was spitting flames from my zaust. Now, that wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if I was backing off from near the redline but I wasn't - more like 7 or 8k.

So - I'm fairly sure that isn't normal, what do I need to do to fix it. Is if just a case of cleaning/balacing the carbs or is it mixture? BTW - it's got a race can on it but nothing else (bar rust).

Usually an air leak in the exhaust system, letting air in and igniting unburnt fuel.
I wouldn't worry about it unless it is excesive. Mine does it all the time on overrun, burbling, popping, banging and a big blue flame.......nice. Wink

Hi

Yep, probably an air leak. Having loosened the exhaust off a few times it probably could do with new exhaust gaskets.

All the best

Keith

Not urgent then.

I can live with that.

Mines is popping flames left, right and centre. Race can only which has a tiny, tiny, air leak after it went down the road, but it's popping on up shifts at high RPM and rolling off the throttle over about 9k!

My mate pointed it out to me last night, no rush to fix it cause it's cool as feck! Cool As long as the bike doesn't go bang!

Ste had an afterburner on it when his fuel pump was giving up.
