nobody can seem to tell me whether or not i can take the restricter out when i cross the border to France. Here is the situation....

im 17, passed my test back in march some time (1st i think)
my mate has just found out that because he is 17 he won't be able to ride in france on his restricted gs500e until he is 18
im 18 on the 1st of may and i go to france on the 27th
when you are 18 does the law say that you can ride any bike (in france)

just wondering. would be slightly enraged if i found out after a 10 day trip i could have actually been riding at full power... Twisted Evil

another reason is that im going with four other bikers (two pillion) one with a fazer 1000 and the other with a 1100 bmw so im gonna struggle on my 500 unless its unrestricted.

please let me know

Hi

Fairly certain that legally you cannot as you are still on a UK licence which only covers you for a 33hp bike.

You cannot ride anything in France over 125cc until you are 18, irrespective of a UK licence, same as people of 14 from France cannot ride their mopeds over here.

All the best

Keith
