I have read many posts on here about people getting off of speeding tickets, my brother got a letter today saying he was caught doing 42 in a 30, is there any way of getting off this charge or should he just accept it?

But you then have to provide details of the driver. If you cant you still get done, by which time you'll have your ass hauled through court!

Ask them to show you a photo of the incident and if a speed gun was used then you may get out of it, because speed guns have to be calibrated each day and they only work up to certain distances between the gun and the vehicle so as be accurate.

Get the info and see if they have failed to adhere to the law.

The laser gun certificate and picture of the offence are both evidence and generally are not available for viewing unless you want a court to decide the outcome.

Yep and don't go to court, unless you have a valid reason for the offence and feel you have a good chance of winning.

Go to court and lose and 3 points will become 5 and a £60 fixed penelty notice will become whatever they feel like on the day plus court costs.

I did hear of a guy that was divorcing his wife and was chucked out of the house. He got a speeding ticket, she never gave it to him, 8 month later it caught up with him and he had to go to court, they chuckked it, as it was over 6 month??? Not sure why exaclty but he got away with it, not sure if they have to prosecute a driver within 6 month or what???

Failing that, the auld pay someone to take the points is not a bad option if your creeping up to that 12 point totting up ban.

Give the name of a foreign relative that was over visiting you.

Worse they can get is a fine as you can't endores foreign licenses.
And then they wont get done till the next time they are in the country.

Hardly going to extradite them for a £60 fine.

Wouldn't put it past them, owt to get cash.

I got a ticket for 76 in a 60 and I just paid up as it was the first time I had got done in 25 years.

Later found out that as they had told me it was at a particular spot and it was actually ½ mile away, I could got off. B****r.

Oh, it was in the car by the way.

42 in a 30? Tough. What's he moaning about? Not exactly 33 is it.
