Give them a good coating of WD:40 and leave it to soak overnight, it should loosen them up a bit.

I hate it when this happens, i have snapped countless exhaust bolts because they were too tight/rusty.

Only way to fix it if it snaps is to drill out the bolt and then re-thread using a slightly bigger bolt.

Just undo them!

The things that come out are called stud's

If yours have the nuts rusted onto them then you will cave to cut the nuts off with a nut splitter, or use a hacksaw like me Laughing

If their truely buggerd then you can buy new ones fairly cheaply.

To put the stud back in put a nut on it, followed by another one. do up the top one whilst undoing the bottom one squeezing the two together. when they are firmlytogether you can put a socket/spanner on the top one to screw it in as far as you can.
Then once its in you can simpley undo the top bolt whilst undoing the bottom one to move the nuts appart. They will then come off by hand.

Basically so long as you don't round the nut's off your allright!

You don't even have to do that, if the stud will thread in by hand thens thats fine. If I was doing it I'd buy new studs & run a thread chaser (NOT a tap) down the holes to clean em out & then just spin the studs in by hand, once the nut is tightened onto the stud they ain't gonna loosen off...

soak liberally with WD40 as said before, then attack with CILLIT BANG!!!

The crystals are great at eating rust!

Cocacola works too

Better using using a wire brush on the bolt remove as much rust from around the bolt as possible and then spray liberally 3in1 Penetrating oil and leave it overnight because it's designed to work it's way along the bolt/screws threading as the oil is so thin !

Best to use a good tight fitting socket on a slim looking extension bar to use with a socket wrench and it will probably be a 10mm version, but don't buy a cheap socket plug because it will no doubt break being of cheap quality metal.

Once it's off give it a good clean with WD40 and dry it off and then smear the threading with copper grease to prevent future seizing. If the nut is in a poor condition then you're best to try your local ironmongers store to see if they have a replacement as they only cost pennies !

Exhaust studs and nuts will cost you about £2, if you can get the rusted ones out, throw them in the bin and buy some new ones, not really a good idea to re-use rusted ones when you can replace them for such a small amount.
