Race

My friend, Bryn, thinks that because he is a road buff he could beat me in a race to Asda in Accrington from St Marys College in Blackburn. He rides a Typhoon 50cc scooter against my newly fixed RX125.
The race will take place at 3:15 on Tuesday. He will be taking the quickest route he knows, and I have to go through Blackburn, then take New Lane into Oswaldtwistle and go from there to Asda.
Anyone is welcome to join in, but you must remember that although this is a race, public roads will be in use. So excessive speeding will probably get someone killed.

Just race your mate off the lights somewhere. otherwise it's not speed its loonacy. A lad i know with a DT125 is stupidly quick from A to B as he overtakes everything and just assumes the oncomming traffic will move over to let him Shocked

I know that I'm going to win, even if I don't overtake a single car, as his scooter is still fully restricted and has a top speed of 45mph (so he says).

We have just planned the final routes now to make it a bit more even.

The green route is where Bryn will be going which is mostly dual carriage ways. So he can basically go as fast as he can most of the way.

The blue route is mine which means I will have to go slower, but is not much longer than the green route.

So tomorrow will be a lot more interesting and even than the original plan.

Just did the race and it was ace.
I followed my route and he followed his route.
The best bit was that neither of us had any idea where the other was.
I managed to beat him by about 5 seconds in the end.
I only saw him on the last bit of the race, where the routes meet up, and managed to overtake him with around a 1/4mile left.

This has shown me just how much cars always get in the way when you don't want them to. I didn't overtake any car if I couldn't see the road ahead or if there was a car coming the other way.
