Welcome to the Thundercat (R6) forum. Myself am not a biker for anothe ryear yet. But my dad owns a Thundercat. I was just wondering if anyone here new were abouts you can get cheap racing legal exhauts from.

You can get cheap race cans from ebay new, they are called VIPER cans and cost from £89 for the alloy oval can then a link pipe at another £15 and a baffle to make it more legal for £12 thats probably the cheapest you will find for brand new items other wise the best bet is to keep a look out on on Ebay as there are always cheap cans going o there. Oh and they don't neciserily have to be for one bike you could just buy the correct bore can from any bike and buy a link pipe for the bike you are fitting it to and hey presto.

Wrong bike dude, Thundercat is not an R6 although it's still a great bike.
I'm biased as I've owned 2 R1's now so guess what I voted for

Also, the CBR1000 is a later model of the CBR900.

The R7 is a very differnt bike to the rest.

As standard it came with a about the same power as a 600 of the time. However it came with what was considered to be a very good frame and had the possibility to tune it easily to lots of power. It was sold so that they could race it in World Superbikes.
Most will have been sold for racing.
Some were unofficialy modified with an r1 engine; all the power of a tuned 750cc engine with much better reliability.

I think only 1 or 2 R7's ended up in non racers hands. Most were sold to racers whos pedegree was judged suitable by Yamaha, a few ended up in private collections.

Out of all of those bikes the R7 is by far the fastest, best handleing and most desireable. It's also the one you have zero chance of every rideing and one you can couldsider yourself lucky to have seen.

I think the CBR1000 is the bike of choice out of the rest. It looks so good, sounds so nice and goes pretty decent too!

The spec i've seen says:
140bhp
162kg

Means some SERIOUS speed!

But it is basically a road legal road legal factory race bike. I doubt any of them have the reliability to get futher than a few thousand miles

The R1/CBR are definatly better road bikes, but the R7 is *the* dream bike

I'm pretty sure that's with some tuning.

Think I read that as standard it came 'restricted' to some degree. Only made just over a 100hp off the shelf. The idea being that racers could tune it how they wanted it to be tuned.

I suspect the 161kg weight was with race bodywork, can etc.


Compare that to a new GSXR1000 that has a (manufacturers) dry weight off 161kg with road body work. With just under 160 real-rwhp and it'd be a bit more 'interesting' that the r7 as far as riding goes I suspect .

In this months BIKE magazine (one with the Orange County Choppers DVD on it) it has the YZF-Thundercat in the R6 timeline. Same engine, tuned differently, for more usable low down grunt.
So basically a detuned,slightely uglier R6 no offense to owners

im just goin by what BIKE magazine have said. But im sure newer R6 engines are very different

AFAIK, thats how it all went. The original Fazer 600s got 'Cat engines until 2004 when those engines no longer met emission regs so they used the cleaner R6 motor which was detuned for the job.

The R6 motor is probably a major development of the Thundercat (Fazer/FZR600) Engine, and probably owes some of its characteristics to it.

And as for this thread I'd have to go for the CBR1000RR.

Sorry but i fucking hate the R6, i think its way too bland on the road!

Not interested in what its like on the track id rather be on a gsxr, or kwak!!

R6 great handling but it just didnt have that omph i was expecting, just my view on it!
