Buying an crash damaged bike

Just hoping for some help and advise folks.

I've been offered a bike which has had a Cat-D claim after the former keeper threw it down the road.
What does this mean exactly and what impact would it have on the resale value of the bike etc?

Cat D means the plastics are fucked to the point that buying new ones would cost more than the rest of the bike is probably worth.

fix them yourself, buy second hand ones or ride it without them.
Otherwise the bike will probably be allright

What i meant was that i'm thinking of buyin a bike that has CAT-D history but has been repaired. I know the bike has been repaired to a high standard, its straight and looks good as new.
I'm just wondering what sort of % saving would you expect buying a bike with CAT-D history and would i struggle to sell it again?

Had a cat D in at work this week and the new owners insurance company wanted an engineering report to insure it for it's market value.

On top of this the bike turned out to be a ding so it's off to the pound until further notice anyway.
