Hi there,

I have posted before during which time i changed
my mind about which bike i wanted at least 3 times Sad

I am quite sure however (at least this hour) that i love the look of the Suzuki SV650, whats your oppinion on this as a first bike? I have read some reviews and the journos seem to like it alot .

So what do you reckon? 69hp too much for a first bike?

Cheers

Sam

It's high up on the 'good first bike' list.

Naked one should be cheaper to insure than the faired version, though the fairing's good if you're gonna sit on motorways a lot.

Can be had brand new for not much over £3k if you shop around.

Thumbs Up

No, you'll be fine if you use your common sense - i.e. don't get carried away Thumbs Up

I've been riding on the road for over 6 years now and really like the SV650, but having test ridden one it just didn't feel like the right bike for me. For me the SV650 just feels huge and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to ride one as a first bike.

Thanks for the replys!

This is all very positive, and its the next day and i`m still liking the look of this bike very much.

Yeah i`m a reasonably sensible guy, my friend who has been riding for 6 years now tells me i`m probably over cautious, but then riding a 165kg Enfield in India with no protection whatsoever and a pair of lacklustre drumbrakes for support i`m staying that way lol

Someone here told me that in the UK you go around a corner and expect the unexpected, In India you pretty much always expect the impossible i.e a slippy elephant dung or even elephant / cow / chicken / Indian driver on a 100cc scooter with 5 family members along for the ride . . . . crazy crazy place to drive, but if i can do it here i`m sure i can ride a bike at home, at home they even have road laws which is great.

Yeah with regard to the bike being on the big side, the weight seems ok (165 dry) but having never sat on one before i have no idea of its size, i`m 5`9 165 am i gonna be able to put both feet flat?

Cheers guys

Sam

Easy, it's actually one of the lower bikes, another reason it's often recommended for beginners.

At that height you wont have trouble on any bike except maybe some of the hugest traillies.

SV is a good first bike all round, but I reckon the power delivery is going to be very user friendly. It'll be nice and smooth with no steps in power - it'll probably feel like you've got more horses because of the way a V-twin makes its power.

Correct me if I'm wrong people; housemate has a Bros 650 which doesn't feel like it makes as much power as my NC (almost does though), it just goes.

the sv is a fantastic bike, the engine is rock solid and because of the vtwin grunt you can cock up the gear and still have enough power, plastic is expensive and your bound to have a couple of low speed drops so naked would be best

SV seems to be highly regarded as first big bike. I've read countless reviews all stating same. It is the bike I'm hoping to get later this year. A low seat, relative light weight and very useable power all seem to bode well. Owners of SV's all seem to rave about them.

www.sv650.org is a cracking site for ALL the information you could ever want.

I found a Link to this site on there hence this is my first BCF post.

So ...............................Hello Everyone
