I don’t like thinking it because it is affecting my riding but loads of people on here casually seem to say “Oh yeah I fell off last week and f**** the bike, ah well”
I don’t want to sound like a nancy but I don’t want this to happen, main reasons being that I can just about afford running the VFR, if I do drop it I wont have enough for panels and other bits.
It has been wet on occasion here, I go around corners at about 10-20MPH using the handle bars to turn, how far can you actually lean a bike in the wet?

Cheers, Killa Thumbs Up

I would say it's down to a number of things, tyres, suspension, confidence, ability, etc.

It's best to take it easy and build up, but always stay in your comfort zone if you don't want the worst to happen.

Not sure about a bike. But my scooter will lean fine in the wet. I just tend not to do it on roundabouts. Dont use the front brake either! Laughing

Well as long as the tyres are sound and the surface is good the knee can be scuffed Thumbs Up

As Dianesefreak said, stay within your comfort zone.

As you become more experienced and therefore more confident, you will find it easier to lean going round corners.

Until then, you do what you need to in order to keep the rubber side down and yourself in an upright position.

When it is dry I can get close to knee down.
I have a lot of riding experience but in the wet I don’t see how the bike can actually lean that far.
Tyres are good, I’m pretty good.
Can someone explain to me why suspension makes a difference?

Suspension setup/quality can make a difference in the way the bike tracks a line/keeps the tyre in contact with the road and how much weight transference you get when braking. They can all affect the way a bike will handle.

Hi

Harder suspension reduces the amount of grip the tyres have in the wet (the Bimota is pretty awful in the wet because of this).

Some of the best tyres in the dry are quite poor in the wet.

Although people can get their knees down in the wet, I would not like to try that. Basically keep it as smooth as possible and don't push yourself, and you have easily enough experience to know what level you are happy with.

All the best

Keith

Very true i played about with my rear preload last weekend and i can’t believe the difference it has made in the handling.

I just wish I had know to do and how when I first got the bike rather than reading about it in BIKE and thinking I should do that.

In the last 6 months I rode at least 2-3 times a week in rain.

And looking out the window, it's looks like today will be no exception. Laughing
