Your old bike....

I know a few of you have been through a fair few bikes, the two wheeled variety-not the local 'bit of loose', and I heard a story about my old bike today. I was just wondering if you look back and think 'thank god its gone' or do you get all blurry eyed and say 'them were the days'?

Reason is this, I learned to ride on my beloved RS125. It was three years old but was in immaculate condition not a single mark on it. It was meticulously maintained and cleaned for the time I had it. The guy I sold it to looked like he lived on a farm, he was also a ped rider and looking to move up. He's since been spotted thrashing it around town with the barrys. Today my GF phoned to say she had just seen it going by in town and it sounded like, in her words 'about to die', to make things worse she said it was all scratched and looked like he'd dropped it.

The more I think about it the madder it makes me (I think im going weird) its as if Ive just found out someone is slapping an ex-gf-that I'm not quite over- around!

Is it just me or do any of you feel like this?

l remeber my beloved NSR125RR being sold to a young girl whos dad seemed to know his bikes and as it was her first bike its probley being well looked after.

A few months after I sold my KR150, I saw the new owner pushing it over the harbour bridge with a pissed off look on his face. It was then that I knew I'd done the right thing getting rid of it.

I sold on my KH100, it wasnt running after being laid up for 6 months (was overseas with the army) to a friend clearly warning him that it needed love and attention.

I cleaned the points up and got it running, rode it to his house and gave him the list of what needed doing, which included a new clutch cable.

He turned up with a forlorn look on his face. He'd been running it up and down his driveway (hadnt taken his CBT yet). He said it went nuts and flipped. I know what really happened he was reving the nuts off of it and the clutch cable went! Dented tank, broken shock, shattered disc.....

My first bike which I kept in nice condition my speedshite 2 went to some brummy, thank fuck that thing went.

My old SR125 went to a fellow BCFer (dance like a monkey) who looked after it and I believe he has sold it to a BCFer.

When I want to sell my ER-5 I would want it to go to a BCFer so I can see if they are looking after it?

I sold my NSR125rr to some dude from london, who came to pick it up at like 9pm and rode it all the way from p'boro to london in his fluffy 'Blazin` Squad' style jacket and his reebok's. Was half expecting to see it on ebay 2 weeks later as "Spares or Repairs".

And i do miss it i miss having a fun bike to scoot around on

I was thinking about this the other day.

I thought I missed my old Derbi Senda 50, which I do, but I also miss my old RS125. I had good fun on both those bikes. (Also had an NS125 in the middle of those but that was dropping to bits, was over the moon to see it go! ) Then I come to realise, I dont really miss the bikes, I miss 2-strokes more than anything. I've always had 2T's in the garage, but now its empty of them! I loved my old 50cc CBT days on the Senda. Fantastic bike, so much fun thrashing it everywhere, doing a hardcore 55mph.

Buying bikes is great fun. Selling them is awful. (Unless you've had problems with it or it was a bad bike in the first place.)

Don't think I'll probably sell the RS125 when i get a 'larger' bike. Is quite a sorted little bike when you can get to cane it along country lanes. Might keep it as a local distance bike. Plus also don't think I could bear all the local chavs coming around to view it asking 'how much does it do...'etc

I miss a few of my past bikes, the last one being the most as its replacement is even worse than it was.

And for some reason I sold a W Reg Honda Rebel 250 with 6,000 miles on it for a 15,000 Mile GS500, which i susequently wrote off .

Had an RD250 a few years ago. Was an import from the states with the tear-drop drop tank. Some thieving bastards had it away on my bike though and that was the last I saw of it. Didn't like the pile of shit much anyway

I sold my 125 to a guy off another forum I frequent. He already has a GSXr750, so I know it's just a play thing. He put it through an MOT, put some knobblies on it, and it's now used for wheely practise.

I don't really miss it, I'd spectacularly bodged it.

I think everyone has the idea they'll keep their 125 when they get a bigger bike. I wanted to keep my 125 to get to and from work and school. But when you actually work out how much its going to cost, it's not affordable.

I hope the previous owner of my XJ never reads my threads....

My first bike was a Honda H100S. Not fast, but I still liked it. I will buy one sometime just for interest.

My last 125 before my test was an MBX125F. I landed up riding it again 6 months after my test when my bigger bike was a bit fubar and found I liked it, hence went and bought an Aprilia AF1. Sold the MBX to a friend who wrote it off so I bought the remains back. Repaired it and used it for a while before some gits stole it.

I've just let my BROS 650 go and although I'm happy with my new ride...it was just so reliable and easy. The BROS is under-estimated by everyone including a Harley and a CBR1000 rider at a set of lights in Edinburgh one night (haa haa yous didnae see that comin did yea).

The buyer is keeping in touch by email(!) He collected it from Edinburgh and rode it to south London... he emailed me as soon as he got back to say it was a f##kin brilliant trip. Couldn't fault the bike at all - "brilliant and fantastic on the twisties and motoroways"...

I will definately miss my BROS!!! ;-(
