Never thought it'd happen to me. 30mph lowside over some "invisible" sand.

Going to need a new right side faring, new right side bar end, right side foot peg and the muffler's seen better days. The front brake lever's ground down a bit and the rear's a little bent inward, but those I can live with.

Oh well. Came away from it with only a severely sprained foot and a couple scratches. Neutral

Dude, if that were my bike, I'd be bending that lever back in a vice and leave it at that. Doesn't look shabby at all. Thumbs Up

Glad to hear you're alright though.

Hah. Didn't even notice her there... That'd be the missus surveying the damage and chastising me for my apparent lack of riding skill.

As far as the faring goes, I'm gonna have to replace it. I had entertained the idea of repainting it/the whole bike, but it's ground all the way through in a couple spots. I'm hoping I can water sand the scratches on the tank and buff it out. Fingers crossed.

Oh, and the best part. We're set to move into a new place in two weeks, therefor all my moneys are currently being held in reserve for the deposit, first month's rent and any other moving expenses we might have. Looks like the poor thing's gonna have to limp around town as-is for a while. After my foot heals, that is.

Sorry to see that. Nothing too major though, you'll soon have it looking as good as new.

Well at least that bit's pretty good news Thumbs Up

I'd recommend you fit some decent engine-mounted crash-bungs (think you guys call them "frame sliders" over there) - R&G are expensive but good, if you can get them. They'll help stop things the frame and engine-casings touching down in the event of a slide long enough to wear through a fairing.

Did you have crash bugs on yours already? Cos from the pics, I'd have thought a 30mph lowside would have done more damage to the fairing. I had a 5mph, erm, highside on some diesel and my fairing came worse off than that.

Me too. I'd suspect* that his leg was perhaps under the bike Confused Question

*unless Suzuki have stopped making fairings out of wafer-thin plastic Shocked

Yeh. Indeed, it was my foot that kept the faring off the road for the first couple seconds. Nature's frame slider. Rolling Eyes

In all honesty, I'd gladly shell out the $80 for a decent pair of sliders and the ability to put weight on my right foot again.

Beautiful example of a K3, Fruit. That photo fairly recent?

They're certainly worth it in my experience - won't always save things like indicators, but they can stop your engine-casings from touching down, or mean that your fairing takes only minor damage Thumbs Up

Thanks! - Taken on Saturday afternoon after fitting the grab-rail/luggage rack.

The right-hand side isn't so pretty though .. minor scratches after crashing at Croft circuit last year on a track-day - the R&G bung was ground down somewhat too, but really saved me some grief Cool Very Happy

I've also got a new fairing panel now to go on that side, so should be back to almost-pristine conditon soon Smile Smile

How much'd that panel set you back?

They're about £360 brand-new, but I got a slightly damaged one from a dealer for a third of that - needs a new sticker, that's all as there's no damage to the plastic Thumbs Up Cool
