I had a go on my mates gsxr1000 k1!! Razz

Never again the damn thing is way too powerful!! Shocked

I think for now im gonna stick to my 600s!

His damn bike wheelies in third gear from just wacking the throttle open, i cant handle such power so soon frigging heck, i was glad to get the hell off it!!

I admire those who ride litre sports bikes and can throw them about like a toy, cos i bloody well wont dream of it!! Shocked

Cant wait till i get my gsxr750 k4 next year!! Twisted Evil

Heres the culprit!!

The picture was taken using a nokia 6630.

I was looking into getting a litre bike in the next two years. But I really dont think I could use all that power on the road in saying that I shouldnt really be using all the power of my 600 on the road Twisted Evil

The new 04' and 05' ones that are out have between 150 bhp and 164 bhp!!! thats just mental Shocked

Its like as soon as you open the throttle on his bike the bike wants to reach for the sky.

I really wanted an 04 R1 next year because i like the way it looks, but i cant get it now because its just way too much power with no room for error!

Much too focused. I love having the power but also want to be able to do 300 mile in relative comfort and not stopping to fill the tank every 30 mins.
And if I squirt the throttle I want to go forward very very fast not up. So it'll always be nice long powerful sports tourers for me.

Next bike I get I just want more torque. My mate has a 916 and an 04 ZX-10R and he can sit in top gear all day and pass things at will. Whereas me and another mate, both on 600s, me on a Fazer and him on a ZX6R have to drop two gears and rev the tits of the things to do the same passes.

Me wants grunt not masses of power. Cool

I actually found the busa a lot tamer than a gixxer thou, and certainly a lot less of a handful when pottering.

Big of a jekyl and hide though, tame enough, but crack that throttle open and you kind of find out what a bullet in a gun feels like.

EXACTLY
litre bikes are in many ways safer and can power you out of some close calls.
And so much less effort to overtake on.
I swap bikes occasionally for a shot of an r1 when out and its got me convinced.
In my opinion you can never have too much power as long as you know how to cope with it.

Throttle works both ways

I even miss the extra torque my old 750 gave over the 600, Even though the Dyno BHP was the same, Extra torque just fel slightly better

Yep agree with you there, the Gixer thou is a mad beast, but the Busa is much easier to ride....until you get to the mental bit where the extra CC's make all the difference. Mind you the Gixxer thou is sooo much easier in the corners & better on the brakes due to the weight loss programme. I get hammered every time in the twisties by them & then catch them up in the straight bits then they can outbrake me at the end. Horses for courses i guess.....me I just like the extra horses. I know what you mean. The bike seems to have a lot of grunt accelerating away from the lights, but seems to lose out a bit up the top end when you're blatting along on the M-way.

I'm looking at something like a VFR800i for my next bike, little bit more umph, decent looks, bit more use for long distance.

Torque is almost always what counts. Speed doesn't give you thrills other than trying to assimilate all the information flying past you. Acceleration and g forces are what gives you thrills. Torque is what accelerates you. The engine spinning quickly is all very well and good, but that just means the same punch faster rather than a larger punch. (I know I'm preaching to the choir).

Not that I've had much of any of those on my bike, but I can imagine the same is applicable from flying.

Talking of torque (no pun intended) I have a hankering for an GSX1400. Sitting on my mates today. Like it.

thats why I am interested in a BMW R1200GS with raw stump pulling Torque and nice punch off the line similar to how a Ducati 1000S Monster feels!

My bike hits the top of it's torque curve at 7000 revs. At this point it's a matter of holding on and keeping your weight forward. But the Bird has quite a flat torque curve compared to some bikes so there's no real surprises. I would hate to have shit loads of torque come in when your not expecting it. Even with the Bird I've had times when you suddenly need to go from acceleration to braking and all that momentum takes some controling.
