Thinking about joining the local IAM group.

Are there many (ex)members on the site?

Do you rate it?

Cheers Smile

My father started the IAM club in Essex, which has now split from the IAM due to them being w*nkers.

I went along to the club for the first time last tuesday, and I'll be joining and doing my advanced test soon.

There are a few people in the process of taking their test or have already done so.

yep im an IAM member....passed this morning, guess i have to grow a beard and buy a bmw now lol.

But seriously i would recommend it to anyone,it has made me a safer fast rider, far more observant and the 20 % discount on my insurance wasnt to be sniffed at either. Very Happy

Rospa

allegedly a more searching test and requires retesting every now and again

seems to be recognised by the "experts" as better quality test than IAM but seemingly not recognised by many insurers for some reason

yep... just in the middle of my training, and taking my test on 27th May.. Been on the course for 8 weeks now, and can honestly say its the best £85 i've ever spent!

some of the things I disagree with, fair enough, its part of the test, and the test is set by some pretty good riders, so i'll do them in my test, but disregard them in my day to day riding..

Its all about making you a safer, more observant, more relaxed rider.. and for me, its worked!

Currently an 'associate', with no test date as yet 'cos I can't make every meeting, but the 'system' method of riding makes sense to me, and they are a very supportive bunch. Thumbs Up

Did the IAM car one.

I'll join the bike one after my exams are over, run it though the Summer. Don't think I'll be able pass in that short time, but as long as I learn lots of things I don't mind not having the piece of paper.
