For me there's nothing better than getting on a brand spanking new bike and thrashing the pants off it knowing full well it's not mine. In the past few weeks i've tested the Buell XB9S, Harley low rider & the new Triumph speed triple. I must say, I loved the Buell, sounded awesome & the belt drive was incredibly smooth. The speed triple was incredibly naughty & the low rider strange at first, but once I got into the riding position I was feeling the part. What to go for next is the question and where. Anyone recommend any test ride friendly dealers in the Midlands and something that's gonna excite me? What you tested recently?

I highly recommend getting down to Triumph for a go. Give them £10 for insurance and the bike is yours to misbehave on for a whole 2 hours!! You can't say fairer than that.

I have no idea, but the whole place looks almost unbearably shiny from the road Very Happy Cool

And Ric, judging from McJam's experience at Harley, I'd say probably not Wink

For test rides try DK motorcycles, thinks it costs £10 but they have virtually every bike you could want just lying around, might be worth phoning ahead in advance.

Yeah DK charge a tenner for test rides. A lot of dealers don't even do them anymore. But if I got a test ride on a Duke 999 I would imagine you can (21 and a mildly tainted licence), although it wasn't from the Dealer in Dudley.

let me get this right, you can hire (test drive) a bike of your dreams for £10 for 2 hours?? do you get a full tank of fuel too?

also do you have to look as though your seriously thinking of buying the bike or can you just ask to test drive the bike without any intent of buying?

If someone charged me £10.00 for the 'privilege' of trying a bike which I had serious intentions of buying I'd think they were taking the piss tbh. I'd at least expect it to be knocked off the price when I decided to buy the bike. Can't think of any car dealers which charge to test one of their cars.

I'd probably take something along like a bank statement to show that I was serious about buying it.

Might I point out that by thrashing a new bike before it's properly run-in you could be seriously affecting the longevity of someone's future baby? There always has to be at least one killjoy, hasn't there? Rolling Eyes

I really don't see what's wrong with thrashing a test bike - if you can't get a feel for the bike as a whole (and that doesn't mean riding for 10 minutes below 6k rpm) then what's the point? It's not as if demo bikes will be sold for the same as a regular new bike and anyone who buys one should just expect it to be shagged, imo.

LMAO!!! I hope you don't potter about at 30 during a test ride. They don't give you the bike with 0 miles on the clock and as said above, it would be sold as a demo model and the price would reflect that. Not to mention a bloody good service before hand.
