 |
|
ok i have been riding my nsr for about 1 week now and i hardly stall at all now, the problem is when i used to have my moped i could happily filter to the front of a queue and know that as it wasnt geared i could just twist, and go
but now with gears i dont want to filter to the front of the queue as i am scared in a rush to accelerate fast i will stall it, so please any tips on how to acelerate fast are really appreciated
if i realease the clutch then apply more throttle it doesnt work, its just stalls |

Use your back brake and clutch to control the speed. Just the same as when you were doing your U turn on the CBT. 125's are fairly gutless so you can have it reving quite high and still control speed with rear brake. Once you mind switches and gets used to using your right foot at slow speeds to control speed instead of your right hand you'll be in complete control ____________________ https://hyperbikes.forumsplace.com/ |

Practising hill starts in heavy traffic (ie stopping every 20 yards) is a good way to get used to using decently high throttle and slipping the clutch, along with using the back brake to hold you.
Basically, it's all about plenty of revs and letting the clutch out gently. Or at least that's the way I do it. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Just rev it really high, and slip the clutch slowly at first.
You'll soon learn how fast you can slip the clutch, whilst keeping the revs up and getting decent acceleration. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

siting at the light
when i started this was my method
Wait till i rekoned it would be amber/green soon
Have foot on rear break
stick revs between 3k - 7k (proably 5ish)
let a bit of pressure off the back break
feed the clutch thru until the bike tried to move
back off the clutch
let the back break go / let the clutch go further than the point id jus pulled it back from
soooooo hard to a) remember how id it b) explain summin u dont think about ne more |

Must admit I'm crap at accelerating fast on the CB500, mainly because I never really try. I am always faster than the cars so that suits me.
However, last year even Cliff on his wee 100cc thingy was faster from standing than me.
Must work on that! ____________________ About me|@Major_Grooves|My company|Digg|Flickr |

As has been said here already, learn how to slip the clutch the get used to using more and more revs until you've got fast getaways sussed. It's very easy to get overconfident, then when you want to do it,get it wrong.
I found this out about a week after i got my RD125LC,i tried to make a fast getaway in front of some mates, got it a tad wrong and the front went vertical scaring the life out of me It did look quite good by all accounts but i was very lucky not to flip it and look very, very stupid. ____________________ Nothing gets the point across quite like a raised middle digit.

Yea just practise makes perfect. Way i did it was go to an industrial state, give it a fistful of throttle, and slip the clutch out gradually.
The more confident you get, the quicker you let out the clutch.
SOMEHOW i managed to power wheelie my NSR in 1st a week ago. Didnt mean to, just messing around with a mate, and in first from dead, the front came up to a very good height. Haven't emulated that yet ____________________ A2 License
