when trying a 400 wheelie...

...is it better to do a bit of high cluth slipping cos dumping the clutch at about 10k dont work.

i've read all/most of the topics an they say to dump the clutch.

do i have to red line it or what?

I would recommend "dumping" the clutch at progressively higher rev's until you get the desired result. Some finess may be required to get it up and keep it there.

400cc + 4 cylinders + attempted wheelies = pop.

Dont go there, unless you are about to bring your bike to the breakers soon. Or you have a lot of repair cash spare!

i saw a video of 1 (zxr) from on here and it didnt sound like he was killing the engine to get lift off.

My GSXR400 held up ok. Fucked up for electrical reasons. The best way i felt to wheelie was to rev to about 9-11k revs, lean forward abit. Dump the clutch and pull up the bars with your arms. If its a full power bike then be careful as it will come up quick. First time i tried full power i nearly flipped and veered off to the curb. Good luck. Thumbs Up

I would have thought it would lift straight of the throttle if you give it a good tug on the bars.

Im pretty certain a 400 would power wheelie with me on one, as i weigh practically fek all... Very Happy

other than the clutch, why would it mess the bike up more on a 400 than on any other bike.

just worked 70 hours in 5 days to pay for a new bike

I made the mistake of trying to learn wheelies on my 400. Fubared clutch in no time.

£80 down the pan, didn't even have enough practice to become any good. Rolling Eyes

Save it for a bigger bike unless you have enough money and time for replacing clutches. I would say the engines would take it!

Downgear it for an easier time but you still need lots of revs and dumping.
