comfortable powerful and reliable???

just a quick question about the nice smooth powerful mile eater bikes available. I am rattled to the bone from riding the '04 ZX-6R and can't do it any more so I have been picking my brain thinking of a more butt friendly alternative. So far I have come up with
Kawasaki ZRX-1200
BMW R1200GS
Suzuki Hayabusa GSX 1300
Honda Blackbird 1100XX
Suzuki Bandit 1200
Ducati Monster 1000S
Basically I want something that does'nt put you on a 40 degree reach to the bars and has more than a mouse pad for a seat and doesn't distort your vision with 7.8 on the richta scale vibrations

any of the above (assuming the bandit is a faired one) will do except the monster which you may feel a little uncomfertable on.

Ive ridden a CBR1100XX and it was wonderfully fast and comfy, a friend has a ZZR1200 and is happy with it.

I'd recommend the Hayabusa, very comfortable, very fast and reasonable soft suspension.

Also pretty agile, used to be able to throw round most sharpish corners reasonable quickly.

The only downside I found was insurance and it's immense appetite for tyres.

I had a sit on a hayabusa and the first thought I had was "man this thing is huge" closeley followed by "oh my god the speedo goes to 340kmph " but when I sat on the ZRX1200 I thought mmmmm nice low comfy wide seat, flat wide bars close enough for me to touch with out throwing myself over the tank but I like the BMW R1200GS style and shaft drive ease of maintenance but the honda has a nice smooth comfy reputation too then I sat on the CB 1300 and that was really nice just a bit heavy, what about a GSX 1400 what are they like to ride?

You seem to have forgotten the king of all comfortable sports mile munchers: the Yamaha FZ-1, or Fazer as it's known to you folks. I'm a big fan of the Suzuki SV1000 as well.

I wouldn't swap my zx6r for anything,
she's so comfortable, very fast (will sit at 150 comfortably)
and the only unreliability is that she needs the choke on to start her if she's cold.
If you feel you have to change, get another kwak.

I love my Blackbird, it's not the coolest thing out there, nor is is the fastest anymore, but it's a fucking wonderful thing to ride. The second it's moving all it's weight disappears, the engine is ridiculously powerful, it's comfy for 500 miles in a day, the fairing keeps the rain off you as long as you're moving, it has no known faults, handles as well as a bike half it's size. Stick a pillion and luggage on it and you won't even notice the difference, and the build quality is second to none. If it got stolen tomorrow I'd be looking to buy another just the same. Best bike I've ever ridden in 15 years, a civilised psychopath.

Zrx all the way. Just because I've always wanted one. Supposed to be fantastic machines and not TOO bad on the mpg too Torquey beasts they are indeed.

VFR 800? Still pishes allover any other bike in its class.. all day comfy, handles better than the litre bikes and reliable enough to take you wherever you want to go...

The busa is the suzuki answer to the blackbird (hayabusa is a hawk that preys on blackbirds) either would be a good place to look... personally perfer hondas but thats just me..

BMW have a few more road orentated boxers, might be worth a look (they are all shaft driven as well) the gs is a great bike but its supposed to be semi offroad, more comprimise... they do have a boxer race series incidentaly.

At the end of the day its all about comprise, a pan european will be more comfy but not going to keep up with a vfr/busa/blacbird e.t.c. you have to decide how comfy you want to be and how fast you want to go

if you want something a little different, and are NOT looking to buy brand new (cos I think they've discontinued it) then what about an Aprilia Futura..

I'm also loving my Thunderace for exactly the reasons you give, fast and comfy, even two up. But again, not a "new" bike....
