Plain and simple, just curious to know what you dedicated bikers would define as the best sports bike on the market.

I've always had a soft spot for the R1, but what do I know?

As allways it depends...

Many italian bikes are fwarific... their designers have it in the looking good section.. not allways overly practical though.. but if i could afford an mv augusta i'd not be useing it for poping down to the shops.

My fave tarting bike would be a motoguzzi breva(sp), performance wise no idea... but imo fastest don't allways = most fun.

not one of the new cbr600's that are smaller than an rs125 thats for sure

i have only ridden an rs125 and they are good for a sports rep 125

and a 1990 suzuki gsxr400sp which handles perfectly

sports reps are too small for me as i need to commute on a bike and im buying a thundercat as it looks perfect for my needs

obviously an mv augusta in line 4 would be the ideal sports bike if i had a garage

Best for what?

On the track I'd have a new CBR/GSXR/ZX6RR.

For the road if I didn't care about my licence I'd go for a K5 GSXR.

As I do care about my licence I'd go for a RS250; if I had the choice it'd be the newer model which has sorted forks (mine are a bit soggy).

Everyone has a different idea. Unless you have the privelage to ride them all we can't say .
Even if we could ride them all could we really tell the difference between 164bhp ahd 168bhp ?

What's a sports bike? It all depends on your point of view.....this is mine. Soon to be 240+BHP. More than Valentino has to play with Twisted Evil

Thats a sports tourer.

I think the more dedicated the sports bike is the better. So it has to be a 2 stroke 250, probably an RS.

on the road I want something I can rip around on and still be legal(ish) so I would also say a 2 stroke 250 but then I have never ridden one before so I can't really be sure plus I heard they need a rebuild every so often so that makes me think about something like the daytona 650 or CBR 400 but on the track a good 600 is great on the autobahn I immagine a busa or blackbird would be first class cruising and cross country a BMW R1200GS or KTM adventurer would be fantastic Very Happy

2 strokes are fun but they break up at 12k+ miles. As for the sports tourer bit, well it depends on how much it's modded don't it!

Its obviously the elusive and mysterious 675cc Triple that Triumph are desperately trying to keep under wraps and kind of aren't!

Otherwise its probably something that you wouldn't normally think of as a great sportsbike, like an old shape 900SS or something.

Maybe a TT600? Smile
