.....illegal numberplate. Apparantly it's too small, and also I have a small hole by the 'T' of my registration, the hole is dirty so the T looked like a J from a distance. Copper was really friendly luckily, just told me to sort it. If I got 3 points for that, i'd have been royally shafted, bearing in mind i'm on 9 points already!

If you're on nine points already, I'd be inclined to put a more legal plate on it! Laughing

Ive got 6 points and looking to get either a flip-up or small number plate. On my 30min ride to work i rarely see a patrol car but often see the white vans hidden away. Im thinking im more likely to be flashed by a scamera van than pulled by a car. Im going to have it so when i go to biker meats or longer rides i can put my legal one back on.

Lucky you came across one of those rare decent coppers Thumbs Up

FTP Very Happy

police are really strict now on number plate it is mainly to help with bring down theft on motor bike if you have the small unreadable plate it is hard to realise the bike which will make it hard to recover

I nearly got pulled yesterday. I was riding with Dam_buster and 2 other lads with scooters.

We all had the noisey race exhausts and were hammering through town. Dam buster had gone home. and it was just me, Matt and Sunny. THere was a patrol car which was in front, He pulled over BLATENTLY so he could follow us. As I saw him pull over, I droped my speed to 30 and made it look like I wasnt with the other two because they were riding like idiots Full throttle past a police car.

When we got to the carpark, we got a warning from the security that the police are watching us on the cameras around the town. Laughing

Come on, Dont they have anything better to do, We werent driving dangerous, Just noisey. Rolling Eyes

And as for going to the trouble of a flip up plate. DONT SPEED and you wont need one! Thumbs Up Wink

Thing is, the plate isn't ridiculously small? As you may or may not be able to see from the pic, its not like a key ring size plate!

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/mikec172/gsxr3.jpg

Anyhow, i'll change it back to standard which is practically the same size!

It's certainly not taking the mick, that's for sure. Confused

However given your current "circumstances", I think I'd bolt a proper sized one on, at least until some of your points come off! Laughing

Err, you can't get points for an illegal number plate.

Its a £30 non endorsable fine, same for no number plate too.

A small plate just gives them an excuse to pull you over though, a person in your situation needs to draw as little attention to himself as possible.

It is also my oppinion that if a copper pulls you for a minor traffic offence and everything else on the bike is straight down the line (two good tyres, legal plate, legal zorst, all lights working and valid tax disc), they are much more likley to let you off with a warning.

I don't think that plates that small really. Nice size, I will be looking into a smaller number plate, just not too small though! How much do slogans cost to be put at the bottom of them?

I still fail to see why people still want or use small number plates?

Your bike has to have one and its got to be a legal size, why bother getting a slightly smaller one, or have slightly different lettering? Why not mod your tax disc while your at it too thats so unsightly being all round and smaller ain't it. Rolling Eyes

Get a show plate of eBay for £20. IMO if you get a 8x6 plate then you won't draw alot of attention to yourself but it's alot smaller than the standard plate. The characters dont seem to be that much smaller just less of a border. Also get a nice slogan on the bottom like. "Tonight Matthew I'm going to be a fcuking lunatic

to binge

those .lol. race cans on scooters are the most annoying things on earth.

even more annoying than the knobs in slow corsas with cherry bomb exhausts on (or whatever they are called these days) that make there 1 litre car go no faster than 101 tops indicated on the speedo

you can here the ped rider from half a mile away with the leo vince on as it makes a single note like a stangled cat and then you can hear it go half a mile up the road making the same noise

i had to report one the other day as i nearly felt the need to kick him off it

only my girlfriend stopped me from doing so and calmed me down enough to go back in the house and ring the local police

havent heard it since Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

[pedant]

It's not the same noise. You actually hear two distinct tones, a higher one when the scooter is coming towards you, and a deeper one when it is going away from you. It sounds like a continuously altering pitch because the volume changes continuously. See the Doppler effect.

every night for a week

and i was not being anti ped

he had no thought for anyone else babies people working nights e.t.c

i'd had enough i let it go for nearly a week

rather than boot him off the bike which of course i would not of done but felt like doing so

i reported him as it was painfully illegal

we all start somewhere but whe dont have to knowingly piss off a half mile long street until the early hours
