If I could buy a different bike tomorrow I'd get an NSR. It'd go round corners and go faster than 60 down a hill. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Well you never gave us a budget.
The point is I can't buy another bike tomorrow so basically I wouldn't get anything then? ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. For a playing about bike, I would really like another RD350 YPVS.
For a sensible everyday bike I am tempted by the Kawasaki W650 at the moment, not sure why, just something different I suppose. I would probably have it fitted with a mechanical supercharger if I got one. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. really hard to say actually..
the Thunderace does everything I need of a bike.. sporty enough for me.. certainly fast enough, and reasonably comfortable two-up.
I could be tempted by a Firestorm, or maybe a Duc ST3, even an Aprilia Futura... something that's got a litre engine and is all-round capable, as long as the pillion isnt a perch.

Hi
Been thinking about this for the past couple of days. Almost posted a thread like this.
The trouble is that nothing at the moment is screaming "Buy Me" at me.
There are lots of bikes I would like, such as an old Ducati 851, 907IE, Bimota VDue, Benelli Tornado, ZX12R, R1, etc, but these all cost a fair amount (except the 907IE) and would only be for occasional use. Although I possibly could rustle up enough money to buy one of these, none of them appeal enough to convince me to go without things to afford them.
More likely would be a bike to use every day for commuting. My commute is 55 miles a day with little heavy traffic, so comfort is not top of my list of priorities. I have an FZR600 for this at the moment which I do quite like, but which needs a few minor things sorting (probably do some of that this weekend). If I was replacing it (probably will early next year) then current choices would be a Triumph TT600, an FZR600R or an R6. The TT is one hell of a lot of bike for the money, and the slight lack of top end power compared to more modern 600s does not bother me really, while the mid range glitch should be easily sorted with the latest fuel maps. The down side is the small tank which would mean filling up every other day. The FZRs are reasonably modern and quite cheap, and would really just be one step up from my current (older model) FZR. An R6 would be nice as well, and the performance and handling would be great. Seem to have a reasonable range. The only problem is finding one without spending too much money to feel comfortable using it as a commuter bike.
From that it looks like an FZR600R will be next on the shopping list, but I reserve the right to change my mind about this regularly.
All the best

I've been thinking alot about this myself, I'm back in the UK in August and I'd like to have a bike lined up so that I can get about as soon as I'm home and enjoy the summer...
I have a GS500 at the moment and even though it does everything I need, i love riding it (been riding for 4 years now and I still find myself making excuses to nip down to the shop, 'oh we're a bit low on milk' etc ) but the powers a bit boring now. I've had a very steady bike progression, from 125 2 stroke to 250 ninja to GS500, and now I think its about time I got something proper. Money has always been a limiting factor.
But to get to the point, I want something a bit sportier. I'd love a sports 600. More realistically I think I'm gonna go for either a naked 600 (bandit, older sv, or I noticed older fazer's seem pretty cheap) or a sports 400, really fancy a nice zxr400 or a tidy vfr (altough i dislike the idea of going backwards in terms of cc's). We'll see how much cash I can scrape together.
Ideal bike for me and my use would be a nice new Hornet or Z750 maybe. ____________________ "he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man"- Dr. Johnson |

I'm happy with my 525.. wouldn't really change it unless for a brand new 525.. that'd prob be my next bike to be honest, a new KTM..
Not sure what I'm getting once the SV is sold.. well.. I do know but not saying next purchase for me is a Ford Escort 1.6 LX ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

Im seriously thinking about a VTR SP2 within the next few months, so I guess I'd go for that.
But I've also got a real soft spot for the ZX7R, but then I'd probably do something daft and put a ZX10 motor in it! |

But I wouldn't really want one tomorow, I have still more to learn on the 400. I have convinced myself to do IAM or similar before I get one. |
