Why not just go on non-motorway roads instead, then it won't be a problem? ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Hi as i mentioned before both my parents are coppers so im quite up on the law you coud say, both a blessing and a curse i can tell you no bike under 50 cc can use the motorway and even if you are over 50cc being caught on there is game over, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, failing to display L plates on a provisional entitlement and driving uninsured (ins company wont want to know if you have a run in on the motorway) since you dont have a full bike licence both failing to display Ls and using motorway will probably be collated into driving whilst disqualified (as you have never qualified for a full bike licence which would be required to use the motorway) and on top of that is the no insurance. tax would be still ok though so every cloud has a silver lining i suppose ____________________ Bah Humbug |

Houlsby what bike u got? My mate has a rs125 and he goes down the motorway all the time, he sed that he dont get no problems it depends on the bike really. If i was u i would take the non motorway roads to be on the safe side. How long is it to where u got to go if u went on the motorway?

If you were to get stopped, an imaginative copper would be quite within his rights to tot-up enough offences to ban you outright. If you had an old paper licence he would probably tear it up in front of you.
Missing L-plate = 60quid and three points PER PLATE
Driving outwith the terms of your licence = 6 points and a three figure fine.
Oh look, 12 points, that's a ban. Now pay your fine, don't drive for a year and pay four figure sums for insurance 'till you are thirty. Oh, and your driving test will cost twice as much and take twice as long when you are allowed to do it.
Worth the risk? ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Kinda related, is it illegal to display L plates when they're not required. I think it's the tiredness, but I'd find it funny to see an R1/Fireblade/GSX-R1000 with L plates on. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

personally i wouldnt, is it really worth your licence? dont risk it,
i got stopped with one L missing, it had genuinely fell off, i had a spare under the seat and offered to replace it there and then by the road side, he still issued me a 30 pound fine and no points.
I wrote away to them and stated that i was a student currently between jobs with no income and asked them for some other method of payment.. i got a letter in the post this morning saying that the officer issued the wrong kind of fixed penalty notice for my offence and that the notice was now void.
I was lucky, dont do it.
