AS HIS FIRST BIKE

Never ridden anything before...

No licence

No CBT

And yet hes buying something with what, 130 bhp...

K4?

As far as I know there was only ever B, C, E and F models.

A lof of it is the attitude. If he's happy to take it seriously easy there probably won't be a problem.
It's six months down the line where he's getting a bit more confident that I suspect he's more likely to be flying through the air (presuming he's not going to go out and rag it on the first ride and is going to be calm.)

The ZX9 can be ridden very sedately if you're of that disposition... it can also bite rather nastily if you're not.

Hmm Confused Suzuki are the ones who use the K series! lol.

Anyhoo, I agree wif G... I think he will be ok unless he's absolutely terrible at riding, if he keeps it calm and learns how the bike works and keeps stepping it up gradually he will be ok!

A Kwak ZX9 is also quite powerful when ragged so just tell him to take it easy!

Don't see the problem myself. Why not? It will only go as fast as he makes it go. He is the dangerous part of the equation, not the bike.

I thought K4 was a general term for made in 2004... ? I thought thats how it all worked now...

*repositions which end of the stick im holding*

And i mean NO experience... and he is cocky. Put it this way, he intends to ride with no cbt or licence type affair.

My only advise i could impart asides from 'dont', and 'i best get a go before you flip it', that and i suggested he got a 33brake restriction kit for a month or so... at least.

As far as I'm awear, well most definately Suzuki arised the K series, to determine what year the model was! Then I think people just used the term to establish what year their bike was, but basically K4 is another term for a manufactured bike in 2004. Just Suzuki are pronouned for using it.

If he's planning on riding with no licence and no cbt, then he's a plonker whatever bike he gets!

Otherwise, he's going to have to get through DAS etc before he's let loose, so good luck to him I say Thumbs Up

Suzuki is the only company to majorly use K on their bikes model designations at the moment I believe.

If he's never experienced gravel on a corner, a slippery roundabout, ice, mud, etc etc, he's going to be a prime candidate for highsiding, looping or binning. Add the small amount of experience at cornering and the gobbits of power, and it would be very easy for him to run wide on a corner just going in too fast.

Probably just another one to chalk up for the statistics. Still, if he wants to, and can afford to, then he's welcome to.

you don't say how old he is,is he gonna take a test and be restricted to 33bhp?(if he's under 21)
if not he'll soon learn how much respect he's got to give the bike or end up hurt.

From all accounts he is mental/idiot enough to fancy his chances

And also... NO bike experience... AT ALL

Hes NOT doing his cbt

hes NOT doing a licence

and YES he is a plonker

And kickstart... nail on the head there. But its more like, i wonder what a planes like to fly... i know... me knowing nothing of how to control a plane, ill get into this unprotected tomcat sitting here...

He'll loop it, garaunteed

I worked with someone who was talking about getting a bike, again like the first posting, the guy's first bike.

He did his research and read all of the bike mags, Looked at power to weight ratios, etc.

And he said "I'm getting a CBR900RR-SP" (I think)

HaHa, I said "don't be a tosser, buy something to learn on then kill yourself", it's a race bike with lights on.

He left a few weeks later and still drives a car!! Did I put him off?

People don't understand the power these bike put out. They think its as safe as a car. Thats with my mate thinks when he gets his GSXR600. A little too much in a corner and your off. Throttle it on a straight and flip.

He will get on that bike being cocky and trying to show off, have no idea of the power. Open her up and hello front wheel going past my head.

Please record it. Laughing

It's generally fairly difficult to flip a bike relatively speaking. Most accidents occur on bends and junctions, that's where experience counts, IMHO of course.

I beleive in natural selection anyway, so good luck to him. Wink

Apparently (so I've been led to believe) planes like the F16 and F18, if you get into trouble when flying, the best thing to do is just to let go of the controls and it'll right it self. Would have to take quite big balls to trust that though.
