I done my normal route from fakenham (North Norfolk) to norwich today. I have just lost my restrictor wings so i was, lets say enjoying myself on my ZXR400. The road then comes to a 40mph zone, when i entered this i heard a funny knocking rattly noise coming from the engine Thumbs Down . I then headed to my normal garage, good honest garage!

They said to me that the noise could be the cam chain, but it was unlikely, it was more likely to be the big end or the little end. They then informed me that i might be better off getting another engine than them stripping my engine down and fixing it.

I have no money and got into debt to buy my bike so it is looking like i won't be having a bike for the summer Crying or Very sad

So as stands i left my bike there and they are going to adjust the cam chain, with the small possibilty that this would fix it. Then after that i don't really know what i should do and advice would be great!

The cam chains wear after 24k so it could be that...

I don't think the big end bearings them selves are that expensive, its the labour that will be the killer.

You can drop the engine out yourself no problem (you'd have to be a retard to get this bit wrong, right mike?) Give it to a friend with some money and ask them to strip and imspect. If it's broke sell if for parts. If it's cheap to fix get said friend to do it
Thumbs Up
