Because it involves damage to my bike
Fuking livid is not the word at the moment.
In my mates garage last night lookingat his Mini Moto and his car he is lowering.
The bike is outside, wheels on the path and the stand on the road slightly. I am having a fag and i hear a noise, i go outside, there is a girl parking up over the road, on my side of the road MY FUCKING BIKE ON THE ROAD?!
The girl gets out and looks guilty "Oi" I said, she came over and says "What have i done?"
I said if you cant see what you done thats probably the reason for knocking it over, your fucking blind.
"Pick it up"
She wouldnt pick it up, cheeky bitch.
I picked it up, the damage is basically.....
Smashed mirror
Handle bar screen support bent
Screen cracked
Left side fairing scratched
End can damage
I took her details and said, wait for the bill.
Ok i think i covered everything, but i wanted to ask you lot somethings as you are very helpful.
Is there anyway she can get out of this?
What do i do first, ring my insurance, her's, or the garage?
My fairings, can i get them repaired, it is a late model, i want it looking A1 again.
How much can they repair, can i get something like the end can done?

You got her insurance details yea?
I think you contact your insurer and give them those details and they sort it out for you. You may have to pay for the repairs yourself and claim back. This depends on which firm you are insured with.
Dopey bint. Hate to see damage to such a nice bike.

I dont think it matters if it was parked on the pavement, cos the damage was definately her fault and by the sound of it , she acknowledged that.
You should claim on her insurance (you only claim on your insurance if it was your fault or your bike was stolen) and YOUR premium won't go up (hers will ) any you won't lose your NCB.

No I had a witness, my mate went out the garage like a flash, he saw he drive away from it to the other side of the road. When she got out she knew she had done it.
I didn’t think she’d pick it up, I didn’t want her to touch my property anyway, the bikes worth more than she is.
It was on the pavement, the lower part, with the stand on the road away from the curb about 4 inches!
So she hit a parked vehicle, dumb ass.
A lovely immaculate bike, ruined, if can’t get the panels done, I’m going to be gutted. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

This is going to give you a real head ache.
She probally has exess like we all do on our insurance. She probally has to pay the first £500.
I would approach her and ask if she wanted to sort it out without getting insurance involved first, then she wont loose her no claims Make sure you get proof of every thing you do.
If she plays silly buggers youll have to take her to Small claims court (county court) and they make her pay but, it will take time and you have to pay the court cost at first and claim them back.
Your in for a lot of hassle, sorry mate. ____________________ Neal B

What happens if the Honda garage can do all the mechanical bits, like screen support, screen and mirror’s but not the fairings. Can I get the fairings done afterwards? ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Thanks a lot mate
I’ll give him a try if I don’t have to go completely with Honda.
I guess if Honda do it and cant do the fairings in buggered unless I pay for it myself. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

When I had a claim on someone elses insurance (u-turned in front of me, one written off Audi, one slightly bent Jawa) I contacted my own insurance company in the first instance. It turned out that I had legal cover (which most policies do these days for about a tenner) which covered the bun-fight that ensued.
Might be worth getting a couple of quotes done on the damage to the bike before going off and getting anything repaired to avoid arguments with the insurers. Don't go for a repairer that is cheap, if the other party is going to be paying, go for the best. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. If you are insured, and she is insured, then this should be no problem....
Contact your insurance company and give them a description of the incident, including all her insurance details.
With any luck, the next thing you should hear is that you can take it to be repaired somewhere (usually the insurance companies selected garage) or an assessor will come road to ,er, assess to damage and value the claim, (by which time the panels will be much worse than that and there will be a dent in the end can....... )
If she decides to play silly buggers, however, it may be a entirely different story, and you will thank god for the extra 30 squid you paid for legal expenses......
If she wants to pay for it, fine, but you want NEW top fairing, NEW side fairing, NEW lever, NEW bar end and a NEW can.
All of a sudden she will find out that paying her excess on her insurance won't quite look so bad! ____________________ You will become my force of retribution. Where you tread, doom will follow. Go now and claim your destiny |

TBH i think the insurance would class it as a write off. It's a VFR which is what 10+ years old. Being as the fairing are quite rare it would be difficult to get them new and resprays are quite expensive. I would try and get her to cough up without the use of the insurance company. Draw up an agreement to keep it semi-legal. i.e know where you and her stand with it. |
