I've been considering a VFR800i for my next machine, but I've recently read a few reviews, and I like the look of this beastie. Seems to be a little more focused on comfort and utility rather than sporty performance, which would suit me better as I'll prob be doing a fair bit of my commuting on it.

Anyone ridden one, or got opinions on them?

Aye, seen a couple of reviews of those, certainly a gorgeous bike, but it's brand new, and thus probably going to set me back twice as much. It also seems to be quite sporty. While I want perfomance, I also want something I can relax on. Bearing in mind the physical aspect of my job, if I do move further out from london, I don't want to be hunched up over a tiny death machine for an hour's commute.

I don't even use my Fazer 600 to the full extent of it's capabilities yet, so while the top end roll-on grunt of a litre engine would be nice, I don't really crave the kind of perfomance that the Sprint can churn out.

It is really really beautiful though, isn't it? Very Happy

yeah I like the tripple underseat pipes Drooling

The VFR's are good bikes and you can get them secondhand everywhere. Pretty sure the older version of the Sprint is pretty good too as they are sports tourers same as the VFR. VFR look the best in red Thumbs Up . I like the look of that Aprilia though Thumbs Up

The new sprint is loads better than the old one. Dont even bother witht the old one. They are about the same comfort wise so good for a few hundred miles at a time.

You seem concerned about the power of the sprint but dont forget that unless you make it go fast it won't go fast.

VFR's are very good and very reliable and would be my choice over the Aprilia because of spares avaibility and servicing costs.

Not so much concerned about the power, I simply view comfort and ease of riding above it. I have plenty of power available to me now, I'm just looking for something slightly less focused than I suspect most people of my age group are.

Ok another few bikes for you to look (and to make the desision more difficult) at if you want to travel in comfort but keep the cc's down:

Honda CBF600S
Honda XL650 Transalp

Kwak Z750S
Kwak GPZ500S

Suzuki SV650S
Suzuki GSF650 Bandit

Triumph Tiger Thumbs Up

Anybody want to add to this list feel free to do so and add comments if you wish about my choices Wink

I still like that Aprila Futura mind Smile

You've got no chance getting a new Sprint anyway. They were all sold before they hit the showrooms!

I'm currently riding a Thunderace, and love the power, and relative comfort for a "sports" machine... I've ended up doing a lot of longer trips, most of them two-up and am considering a Futura as my next machine too, as ai DO like the grunt of a litre engine, but need comfort both for me and the gf....

something else to consider might be a ducati ST2 or ST4? the nice touch with them is, when you remove the panniers, the exhaust can be swung higher up it's mounting, to inccrease grounc clearance.
