Last time i oiled my chain i got a bit carried away, and i probibly put far too much on, then went for a ride. the result a rear rim with loads of chain oil caked all over it, cleaning the bike today i tried to get it off but it was not budging one bit, can anyone recommed anything that will work, is degreaser ok to use without damaging the paintwork?
Cheers

I always use a dab of petrol from the tank, and I've not yet had any trouble. I just give it a quick wipe, then wash it off straight away.

Just use your normal chain cleaner! (It's best to clean the chain before putting fresh oil over the top of the old cack)

WD40 or parafin works best for me. Put it on a rag first, not straight onto the bike.

I use WD40 to clean my wheels.

They're yellow, so get dirty way to fast.

White spirit. Gets it off in a jiff, also if you get oil/grease on fairing/anywhere else use it on that. Works better than anything i have ever used.

I found petrol wasn't as effective and dried too quick. Thumbs Up

Do not use petrol or white spirit, it'll feck your tyres up. Shocked Use WD40 or GT85 on a rag. One wipe with a rag sprayed with it the first time round to get the shite off, then again with another clean rag with it on to polish it off. This leaves a nice film of WD40/GT85 which means that the next time you have to clean you wheels it's even easier. Thumbs Up
A word of warning for terminally brain dead out there Rolling Eyes ....Never spray the WD40/GT85 onto the wheel & then wipe it off, it'll contaminate your discs & pads. Always apply to the rag & use that to wipe the wheels down with.

Same thing happens to me when I do it, just use some chain cleaner. Lol don't know if effects the paint though, but shouldn't think it would.

I just leave it, stops the wheel corroding.

Had the same problem on my RS, I used some Hammerite degreaser. Its really gentle and so far hasnt harmed anything on either my RS, my CBR600 or my mates ZX6r. Just get yourself a big roll of that blue tissue from a car shop or whatever and spray onto the blue roll before wiping off! Good luck, its a bugger to shift!

i've always used white spirit on a porous rag. I try my hardest to avoid the tyres, but it does a charm in removing the gunk from the chain spray or chain oil and it leaves your rims sparkling and shiny. Very handy for cleaning spoked rims.
