Well I picked up my single seat unit today and want to fit a rear light in it, It doesn't have the cutout so it will be easy to mount a light in it.

Choices:

Will you not have to remodel the original tail unit? Won't you get gaps or anything without doing so?

No, The seat unit has no cutout so I will cut it to the shape of the light I buy.

I have 4 on the rear end of my ZX7R (but in a custom made surround from Rhencullen)

I don't know about the whole legal thing cos my bike isn't 3 years old yet, but the only problem I have had is that in bright sunshine someone following you can't see if you are braking.

In normal conditions it's perfectly o.k, I have simply taken to turning my lights off when riding in groups in bright sun.

Yes I know it needs cleaning.....

I gathered you picked no 4 then? Looks pretty decent though, like a giant cyclopse. You might want to paint the seat unit and finish off the surround with some custom purple anodised bits? Razz . In some catalogues - if it's E-legal, then i think it should pass the MOT.
