whats the worst penalty for iridium visors?

Hi

I am planning on buying an iridium visor for my helmet. Since the OXFORD visor insert ting does not fit properly.

I know that tinted visors are not road legal but i wanted to know what would happen if i was pulled by police.

Erm, probably a slap on the wrist and the confiscation of the visor I would imagine.

Heard of coppers confiscating them before, leaving the rider with no visor.

I've worn them since passing my test in 1999 and it's only been mentioned once, when I was pulled in 2000. He served me a defect notice for my can, but said in his opinion, tinted visors were a safety aid and he wasn't going to do anything about it.

You will be fine. I have been pulled twice with one and they said nothing. Also had an accident and had one on. Again nothing was done, just pc plod said "look at how scratched this visor is" Cool

I think its only a problem if you get caught using it at night.

I use a mirrored insert, ok, I always have to trim it to fit properly, but they are good, improved vision, especially in wet conditions.

Just did over 700 miles to the North-West and back, passed loads of police, they never looked once. If they stop you with one its probably an excuse to get a look at other things that might be wrong.

Yeh im sure that there are some road legal iridium visor that you can wear. Seen it on a website cant find it now.

Well normally I would agree! However I know someone at the weekend that was stopped for his small plates! Had to go to a garage and get papers stamped to say he had a legal plate put back on. Now isnt that the same rozzer pettiness that will have you for a visor?

Sunglasses all the way. Can't be arsed with changing visors, or even buying a new one for that matter. Laughing

Hyperoptics doesn't look like a bad idea, except that I've already got a Fog City on the present visor.
