Today i was going down the A10 when i noticed my bike was getting really hot shouted to my brother to pull over at the next exit to let it cool down, went passed him and he shouts your pissing coolant everywhere, i look down and it is pissing out everywhere by now the temp gauge was in the red so i pulled over into a petrol station, removed the fairing and couldn't see any leaks so i filled it up with coolant from the petrol station, started it and it seemed fine, let it run for a bit to see if the temp was going to fly up etc it didn't so i rode it home, all the way home it kept a constant temp on halfway between high and low - thought that maybe the coolant was just old and hadn't been changed for a while as after i filled it up it was running fine and has been running fine since as there were no leaks and was coming out of the overflow pipe.

Any ideas or advice would be very helpful (cbr600fy btw)

Did you take it easy on the way home? Sometimes they will pish the coolant out at high revs if the head gasket is blowing slightly but behave normally at lower revs.

Hope this isn't the case.

Yeah did take it easy on the way home, but then took it out a bit later for a proper run using the full rev range and it was fine the temp gauge quickly went up to half heat and stayed there throughout

Did you figure out why this happened??

It happened to me yesteday on my Kwak ZX-6R. Stopped somewhere and there was coolant dripping from the passenger left hand peg. How the hell did it get up there? Open up the coolant tank and a little trickled out, I'm assuming this happened as the engine was hot and the liquid has expanded.
I had been giving it some prior to stopping!! Wink

Temp gauge was fine and no difference to performance!

No never realised why it happened but i wasn't giving it any as i was in slow moving traffic, although since filling it up with new coolant the temp has stayed steady, was thinking about flushing it out and then refilling with all new coolant but guess im just too lazy might though if the temp gauge starts rising quickly again though
