Hello, i've got a mate at work who's riding round on a moped on his CBT, everything else is legit, insurance, etc. But he got a speeding ticket last november, got the 3 points and fine and he got caught last friday just down the road from work for not having a rear L plate, now they gave him another 3 points and a fine. I am right in thinking that provisional drivers/riders can only have up to 6 points?

Once you've passed your test with whichever type of license you get, you can only have up to 6 points within 2 years can't you?

I ask all of this as my mate doesn't understand that he's lost his license, just wondered if anyone could make this a little clearer for us?

Cheers,

Mike Smile

Hi

No, as a learner they can have 12 points. The six points limit kicks in when they pass their test. More than 6 points before your test and you still keep your licence when you pass your test, but get any more points in those 2 years and youi loose it.

All the best

No, you can quite happily have 9 points after your test, just that gain any points that put you over 6 points (or any points at all if you are already over 6 points) within 2 years of passing your test and you are banned.

All the best

most people onmopeds have is de resrtricted cos its not really that safe on a moped to be going 30mph while all the cage drivers are doing abt 40mph past you...

His mopeds de-restricted so it can do over 40, he rags it round everywhere, already told him he'll get caught for dangerous driving, etc or have a pretty bad accident soon if he doesn't chill out. Cheers Keith i'll tell him when i'm back in next week Thumbs Up Smile
