...providing they've got the right bits.

Needed a new front caliper.
Phoned local dealer. Honda original £410.25+VAT (=£482.04 total)
Even the sub-assembly was £295.53+VAT (=£347.25 total)

Phoned a couple of breakers.
First didn't have the bits, next one the offer was £100 (+ postage) for the pair, wouldn't split.

Then remembered a local breaker and gave them a call.
A quick bit of negotiation for collection and cash and it was £40 all in.

Oh yes, I'm happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

On a serious note I think sometimes people get sidetracked into just looking on the internet/eBay for bits. Why not seek out your local breaker, nip down and see what they're like.

As I said, go see what they're like. Only problem with the one I went to was finding someone to sell you the bits. The place was tidy and everything labelled and/or in boxes.

A decent breaker is a thing to be treasured. R&G in Birmingham are great. Huge stock of bits (including stuff you never knew you wanted until you saw it Shifty ) and always helpful, Gary can normally tell you immediately if he's got what your after, or if he hasn't what can be made to fit fairly easily. Japanbikespares are pretty good as well, they've always been spectacularly helpful and very fairly priced.

They're based in Malvern Smile

www.japanbikespares.co.uk

Website isn't always bang up to date, so always worth giving them a ring.

If anyone knows of a good breakers in Essex I'd be most appreciative of the tip! I get the majority of my spares from ebay or Barton Motors (Kawasaki breaker online). They're very good - everything stripped and labeled etc, but I'd like to find something a bit cheaper if possible!

there great places for spares manily for old pre-90,s bikes. have spent many hours going through boxs with a verna and rule finding bits that fit or could to machined to fit.

ZZR250 rear shock were £250 new and second hand ones are impossable to find so l got a CBR1000FM shock from the breakers which was the same lenght as a ZZR250 one and pressed in smaller bushs so it would fit on the ZZR250. very hard rear end but passed its MOT Thumbs Up
