i could spend hours trudging through insurers to find a few cheap ones. but are there known cheap insurer's like more than for cars?

theres no set "Cheap insurer"

it depends on the bike/were you live/age/cover/etc

for example CIA insurance used to get me cheap insurance when l first started riding but now they are taking the piss. they wanted to charge me an extra £50 to change my policy from a 65bhp 1992 KR-1S worth £1800 to a 40bhp 1985 CB400n worth £500. Middle Finger

I got my insurance through Bennetts even though everyone told me they were expensive. I rang round stacks when I got my bike and Bennetts came out tops Thumbs Up

I would give the AA a miss for starters.

Try calling Carole Nash towards the end of your phoning around. If they can match one of the lower quotes they are worth going with even if they are not the absolute cheapest. Easy to deal with, english speaking people on the end of the phone who know what a bike is, rapid sending of documents and the free recovery (full get-you-home job) is very usefull Thumbs Up

I have used them for the last few years even though they were not necessarily the lowest quote for the simple lack of hassle factor.

I used carole nash for my first year of biking, they were cheapest and easy to get on with, Then switched to bennetts because they were cheaper and carole nash wouldnt match their quote.

Either way they are both good compainies and easy to deal with.

H&R were by far the cheapest for me. £400 when the rest were quoting around £800.

Try Footman James & Company Limited.

They were the easiest and quickest to deal with on line and then on the phone. They were also the cheapest which for me was even more important.

I also liked the fact that they didn't try to sell or introduce any other type of product,cover or useless advice when flogging their policy.

buy a copy of bikemart and go through them all playing them off against each other till you get the cheapest
