The question is a little flawed. I'll explain.

Do you mean a CBTer who has a restricted 125cc bike telling his/her insurance company that it is derestricted?

Or,

Do you mean a someone who has passed their A2 license restricting them to 33bhp for 2 years and telling his/her insurance company that it is unrestricted?

In both cases it would be a damn silly thing to do and would result in - I suspect - an immediate cancellation of policy.

Never been asked, no need to declare. When I was ringing round last months for quotes on my new bike none of them seemed botherd when I mentioned if I have to notefy them when the restrictions up.

Most insurance companies don't need proof, and they'll just assume you're restricted, on the grounds that if you're not restricted you're riding outside the restrictions of your licence and therefore are no longer covered.

So it's not really something you declare or not.

My insurance company never even asked, and I never had to show them proof it was.

I'm still restricted btw.

Never asked.

The only problems I had shopping around were Bike Team who simply wouldn't insure me on a 600 because I was under 21.

Fair play to them however they did lose my business when I cancelled my other bikes insurance.

Carole Nash never asked for proof when I took out my policy. I asked them if they require any documents and they said nothing but my proof of no claims. I specifically asked if they wanted the restriction documents, but the woman just turned around and said "nope."

Why oh why did I spend so much getting it restricted in the first place. Mad

I declared it to my insurance company as a modification along with the other stuff like the exhaust. Didn't need proof of it though.

Hmmm, this is something I'm having to ponder now. Neutral

If a claim is made & they want the proof will they inspect the machine also to see if they are still in there?
Since I'll probably be buying privately a bike without restrictorsm would paying to then have them put in be best since I hear it's anything around £200 Surprised Confused.

It's worth it though. Imagine you crash into a £60,000 car and write it off. No restrictors then you will have to pay all damages yourself + you will probably get arrested by the law. Neutral

They could if they wanted to, for what its worth I can't say I ever heard of that happening and do know various people who have made a claim or had a claim against them on a bike which is meant to be 33bhp but wasn't, then there's people being done for speeding and other such things which wouldn't be possible if the bike was restricted. Police aren't really a worry I'd say, cop who stopped me on ZX6R at 17 reckoned it was the biggest I could ride until 21 and he was a bike cop.

There's nothing to say that they couldn't examine your bike in the event of a claim, if they did notice then yes you would be slightly fucked over but the risk of it ever happening I'd say is pretty much zero.

They won't even ask to see the restriction certificate. i was taken off my bike about 2 and a half weeks ago, bikes a complete write off, and the police didn't ask for the certificate. The insurance never asked for it either, but they haven't got back to me yet about my claim, so i can't tell you about that one.
